Default ESC RPM output question

Here's a question probably for BrainDev.

Right now on all my models, I use the RPM output to run the governor on the Brain. I've been experimenting using an Arduino nano to gather telemetry information and send it back to my Taranis.

Can I split the RPM signal wire from the HobbyWing ESC and use for both the Brain and the Arduino input, or would this cause problems with the governor? And I guess if the answer is "I don't know" How would I look at the Brain logs to see if it was causing problems? Is there an event that gets set if RPM input is lost?
