Miniature makes a cf rod conversion. I had one leftover that I bought from Heliproz before they closed. Looks like MA Germany still makes it:

What I like about the CF rod is that it slides much smoother in the supports and doesn't rattle in the air like the metal rod does once the supports start to wear out. OTOH the metal rod is cheaper, lighter, and less likely to fail.

I do like your idea of using the wire pushrod inside a goblin graphite tube........
