ES600 Flights #12-13 and Tarbo #89

Posted 07-21-2009 at 08:48 AM by nasukaren

Great day at the Berlin airfield on Sunday. Gorgeous weather. And more people than I've ever seen -- with some fantastic nitro bigbird flying by Albert and Bob. Only wish is that folks maintained a safer flightline!

My Tarbo stripped its belt on spoolup. A brand new Mavrikk... Argh. One problem I think was that the tail was hitting the tall grass. The other is that I reused the boom from the last crash and it was bent at a very small angle that caused the belt to rub against the boom wall at the very front. Not good.

Tried field repairs but couldn't do it because didn't have the right allen wrench to take off the tail pulley. At home, did so and replaced belt. Put on a new tail pinion and pulley. Hope this fixes my tail problems.

In other news, the ES600 flew fairly well. I'm still too chicken to do anything other than hover with it. No flips..... I hope my "in the mail" HK-T500 gets me over my fear of large blades.
