Belt CP Flight #33: Nice gentle hover

Posted 05-18-2009 at 01:08 AM by nasukaren

With my "tarbo" in the hangar for repairs, I took the Belt CP out for a flight. Installed the E-sky 704b gyro and it actually wasn't bad. The 704b still stinks, it twitches from time to time (not a wag, a twitch every so often), but held reasonably well.

But the BCP is just so stable. I'm sure if I was a 3D queen I'd hate it, but it's just a great little bird.

Tarbosaurus 450: Flights 5-6 Crash #2

Posted 05-17-2009 at 12:01 AM by nasukaren

Tarbo was doing so great today. Flight 5 with no issues, especially with GY400 on it.

Then Flight 6 went too well, it was flying so well I was taking it higher than usual and it flew right into my puppie's dog run line. The blades disintegrated and the bird wrapped its main mast around the line.

Even though it looked horrible, the actual damage wasn't too bad and not too different from a normal crash.

Tarbosaurus 450: Flights 1-4

Posted 05-16-2009 at 01:03 AM by nasukaren

The Tarbosaurus 450 was born from the ashes of my HK-450. HXT900s on the cyclic. AR6100. JR290 on the tail.

The tarbosaurus was the Chinese cousin of the tyrannosaurus. A little smaller but just as deadly.

HK-450 airframe retired

I've decided to retire my HK-450 airframe. The alu sides bent out of shape too easily and the heli ended up looking like a parallelogram.

HK-450 Flight #22: Back in service

Posted 05-09-2009 at 07:38 AM by nasukaren

The HK-450 is back in service. After throwing the main blades due to the feathering shaft bolt working its way out, I got the parts to put it back in service. Namely, it lost one of the main blade bearings in the process, as well as the dampers.

New dampers and a new bearing later, the HK-450 flies again. A nice 10 minute flight. I'd post the EagleTree data but the data logger program is not working properly on my EEE PC.
