HK-450 Flights #17-18: Glitching

Posted 04-30-2009 at 01:13 AM by nasukaren

Flights #17-18 (#12-13 on RCLogBook) on 4/27 were ok but I'm gettting a very noticeable glitch on the left aileron. I tried rerouting the throttle /ESC cable which seemed to help a little. It's causing the heli to have sudden left aileron.

Belt CP Flight #27 - So stable

Posted 04-27-2009 at 12:06 AM by nasukaren

Gosh, my BCP is so much more stable than the HK-450. Less twitchy.

Heading back inside after a nice 8 minute flight, I noticed that I had short blades on my BCP -- 315 mm woodies rather than the standard 325mm. I wonder what effect that would have had on stability.

And I'm wondering where the heck the 315mm blades came from, somewhere in my spare box...

HK-450 Flights #15-16: Backyard again

Posted 04-27-2009 at 12:01 AM by nasukaren

Back to the backyard as I didn't have time to go to the park. Flying is good with consistent times around 6-8 minutes. However, I notice my engine and batteries are getting very warm (motor at 60C+; batteries around 45C).

Also, yet another screw worked itself loose in the Sonix head. I thought I had gotten everything but obviously not. Fortunately, no damage done.

ES600 Flight #3: Finding some guts...

Posted 04-26-2009 at 06:37 AM by nasukaren

Took the ES-600 for a quick spin in the park along with the other birds. First hover revealed my head speed was much too low, got some bogging. Raised my HS up slightly and did some hovering and piro flips.

Don't have a LiPo monitor on it so ended at 4:00 minutes, turned out to be premature -- batteries at 3.97. Could have gone for another minute at least, safely.

Need more guts to fly ES-600.

Belt CP Flights #25+26: Two packs

Posted 04-26-2009 at 06:36 AM by nasukaren

Put two packs through the BCP. One in the morning at the park, but had the tail rotor hit the grass and it started the tail gear slipping. On closer examination, tail gear was short a few teeth.

Did some maintenance on the bird. Replaced the tail gear and put in an alu. pulley on the front.

The afternoon hover with the second pack was entirely event free, as it should be.
