Belt CP Flights #21+22: No problems!

Posted 04-17-2009 at 07:22 PM by nasukaren

Today, the winds were back so I flew in my backyard. Burned off two packs on the Belt CP. Raised my headspeed higher by upping the throttle higher limit and the bird spins nicely.

Found out that my gyro (GY400) doesn't like rudder subtrim (duh). I was wondering why I had strange drift. I had set subtrim so that I could get all the servos at a nice 90 but I guess it's a no-no for the rudder.

Belt CP: Flight 20 -- no more training gear!

Posted 04-14-2009 at 11:04 AM by nasukaren

I decided to take off the training gear this morning and fly my little BCP without it! It was very very squirrelly but I think I was getting the hang of it by the end. I was flying in my back yard so no chance of big air. But no crashes!

And the bird is definitely lighter without the gear!

If the sun is still shining when I get back home tonight, going to try to fly for two more packs.

Belt CP: Flight 18 + 19

Posted 04-10-2009 at 10:47 PM by nasukaren

The winds finally calmed down enough in southern CT for me to take my Belt out for a flight. For some reason though everything was wrong about it -- the tail control control was gone and so was the pitch.

Is there some rule that helis in storage will go out of whack?

Luckily I was flying in my backyard so I could make adjustments. Went through two packs without issue and no crashes!

Belt CP Flight #17

Several lessons to be learned today. Do not fly on a windy day. Do not fly right after modifications to the rudder were made. And do not fly after you've decided the bird is unflyable.

Belt CP Crash #8 Damage

1x CF Main Blades
1x Stripped E-Sky Servo Gears
1x Tail boom (bent but recoverable)

BCP broken parts running count: 4x Main rotor blade set; 4x Flybar shaft; 4x Main Gear;...

Belt CP Flights #14, 15, & 16

Posted 03-15-2009 at 03:55 PM by nasukaren

Another gorgeous day so I took my bird out. The first flight, she was out of control and veered towards me. I had to dodge, she hit my flight box and broke my Align CF blades.
Took her home and found out that pitch control link was binding. Replaced it and my broken Align CF blade with some gorgeous CF blades from DealExtreme. Went back to the park and went through three batteries with beautiful flights. Very stable. Nice. Can now hover and do round circuits around myself and the...
