March, almost finished…this time!

Sygnergy G696Z…

I pulled the motor to inspect the clutch. My thought was the shoes was too tight/sticking. Well, it was somewhat, and that was an easy fix...but not the main problem. It was the one way in the main gear. So I need to pull the main gear out and see why the one way is backwards. Either I did this while reassembling the gear, after Loctiting everything, not paying attention, or the one way is simply installed...

I installed the main blades and zero’d them. I moved through the programming finishing the swashplate menu. I finalized the wiring (took a little longer than I thought), and made up a power wire for the LiPo pack to run from the front to the back.

I started in with the canopy, making sure it would fit properly, and with my wiring placement. The front canopy pins were not out (spacing...

February/March, and the build continues…

Sygnergy G696Z…

I installed the throttle and tail servo. Found an old spare linkage that would work for the throttle. I setup a new profile in my Jeti radio, bound it to the REX 7 EX receiver, and bound that to the Spartan VX1n controller. Set up a couple of screens (receiver type, transmitter, etc.), and then went to the swashplate menu. Pull out 3 round Futaba servo horns from my stash, over the many years flying, and...

Sygnergy G696Z…

While I was waiting for the “extra” parts to come in (Thursday & Friday), I disassembled the clutch stack for the third bearing block. I pulled out the main shaft and slid it into the 3 bearing. I tightened the bearing block screws in a zig-zag pattern, verifying the main shaft would stay aligned. Mounted the boom clamp, installed the tail transmission, and ESC/battery tray up front. As luck...

Feburary, and the new build continues…

Sygnergy G696Z…

The conversion kit was waiting for me when I arrived home from work Friday. Not bad though, 8 days to receive a package from Greece!...by USPS. The conversion kit arrived undamaged, and it was well packed. I brought the kit to my work shop and moved parts of the 696 assembly to the side…so I could inspect the contents of the conversion kit. The kit comes with 2 frame sides, 2 front and 2 rear frame...
