Well...

It's not looking good with my electric starter. The brush cable, strands of braided copper wire, is tempered and worn. Meaning they need to be replaced. It's just a matter of time before it breaks. So, I could go ahead and fix it the best that I can or spend the money for a new Hobbico Torquemaster 90 electric starter. I'm also looking at replacing my Whiplash muffler, another $270.00! Grrr!

Bob hung out with Jerry yesterday, thinking I was in church and would meet them at Jerry's place. Well I was working [kinda of need the money to replace broken stuff you know...], and by the time I got out, it was too late to head over there. Bob did inform me he flew his Whiplash...twice! Now that is cool!

So while I'm working on my starter...my electric Whiplash sits...some more!

It's fixed! I was able to salvage the worn brushes on my electric starter, removed the melted divot made by the brush cable, and cleaned the commutator. The junk in the spaces between the commutator wasn't as bad as I had thought, but enough to make a small noticable difference. My electric starter acts like new once again, now to try it out on my helis. However, I might buy a backup starter just in-case it fails again. It would be my luck my starter would fail at IRCHA and no one would have one available... Yea...there's always the Align starter... I am impressed with the power that little thing has, and the fact is uses a LiPo pack...meaning longer useage, less charging.

Now I'm waiting for a Hatori muffler to arrive at Heliproz so I can order it and start flying my Whipplash again!
