Well…May is half over and it still cold here in the Midwest! Come on Summer!!!

This last Sunday morning, there was a heavy layer of frost on the ground, and it was cold out! Old man winter just doesn’t want to let go. I could only imagine what summer would be like if winter got its way… Sorry winter, but you had your run and now it’s time for summer! Blue skies, warm breezes, and lots of sunshine! Oh yea…

In the meantime, Mark and I have been getting some flying in, in between all the rain we’ve been getting. He is doing rather well this year and I would like to see Mark progress even more, providing the weather will cooperate.

The N7 & N5 are flying great.

The Synergy 766

I received the new landing gear and a set of 766 Rail blades. I was using a set of 756 Switch blades until the Rail’s came in. The Switch are a lot noisier and a bit faster in auto versus the Rail blades. The Switch blades seem slower during continuous rolls as if they are being “drug” through the maneuvers…waiting for the blades to “catch-up”. The Rail’ glide through continuous rolls, hardly any effort. However, I do notice the blades “farting” from time-to-time during certain maneuvers…possible blade stall. It could also be me and the need of more collective management.

I do need to work on getting the Spartan Vortex & Hobbywing ESC setup correctly. There are some screens I haven’t been able to program (throttle end points, pole count, etc.), they don’t show up. So as I spool up my heli, the tail kicks to the right until the RPM’s come up enough to counter the torque. Someday I’ll find someone to help me out with this. Until then, I’m having a blast with the 766! I often wonder how it would feel as a nitro heli! My N7 on steroids!

After thoughts…

I ordered the PowerLab 8 charger with a para-board. It arrived and I made an EC5 to banana adapter to plug into my power supplies. I decided to try charging a 2 cell pack to test it out plus learn its programming.

About 5-7 minutes into the charging cycle, the display blanked out??? I called Amain RC and told them the problem. They sent me the RMA info and a label to send it back for a replacement. Now I must wait… In the meantime, I’m getting very familiar with the 10XP charger. It charges my 6 cell packs as pairs just fine.
Well, it has been awhile since I sent my new PowerLab 8 charger into Amain (about 3 weeks now). I had called them to see if they received it and when a replacement might be sent out. They (Amain) were out of stock and they were waiting on a shipment that was in route to them within a couple of days. That was 2 weeks ago, so I’ll call them tomorrow or Wednesday to see what kind of status I’ll get this time. I’m starting to get frustrated over this. Maybe I should take the store credit and add the extra needed to buy the dual 8 charger. And wouldn’t you know it, they don’t list it anymore. I looked at the iCharger 4010…and it’s backordered as well.

I’m starting to become concerned with them; a lot of items are out of stock. When I call them; that will be a question I will ask, and of course I know what the answer will be…

Until next time…
