February/March, and the build continues…

Sygnergy G696Z…

I installed the throttle and tail servo. Found an old spare linkage that would work for the throttle. I setup a new profile in my Jeti radio, bound it to the REX 7 EX receiver, and bound that to the Spartan VX1n controller. Set up a couple of screens (receiver type, transmitter, etc.), and then went to the swashplate menu. Pull out 3 round Futaba servo horns from my stash, over the many years flying, and started centering the servo horns for the carbon fiber horn plates.

I finished the 3 cyclic servos, screwing and Loctiting them. And time ran out for the night. I am trying to finish this heli by the weekend.

More programming work. I setup the throttle servo and linkage to the motor. Selected the right frequency, and roughly dialed in the tail servo...I will wait until the body is done before adding the tail and finish up programming. I made up the cyclic links and blade links. Connected the cyclic links to the servo horns and swashplate.

Started the swash setup menu, and centered the swashplate...gotta love turn buckle links! Everything is zero trim and the swash is perfectly centered. I stepped through several other screens until I arrived at mounting the blades, and that's where I stopped for the night.

I'll finish up the swash menu, make up an RPM sensor (yea, found the right transistors to make my own versus buying them...much cheaper!), and mount that. Go through the controller menus to verify I set everything up, and double check the radio settings. Mount the tail boom assembly, finish programming the tail (end point adjustments), and finish trimming the canopy. Oh yea…I need to make up the power wire to run from the front to the rear.

And that should finish this heli...except for the test flights…and upload more pics!

After thoughts…

The weather seems to be fairly consistent for the next 10 days. No snow, but the rain is coming.

Time to return to the workshop!
Until next time…
