Belt CP maintenance blog

Posted 06-10-2009 at 01:51 AM by nasukaren

I took the 11T off the Belt CP and put it on the HDX, so here's the new headspeed adjustment. This is using the HDX 450 motor from HeliDirect.

Old:
3550 kV * 11T / 140 T * 11V = 3000 rpm

New 13T?
3550 kV * 13T / 140T * 11V = 3600 rpm

Hmmmm... is this right? I think I might need to use the 10T.... since I don't think I ever saw 3000 rpm from the Belt, so the motor must have been bogging.

New 10T + HDX 3550 kV motor:

Tarbosaurus 450 - maintenance blog

Received my new Scorpion 2221-8 Mark II (3595 kV) motor for the Tarbo. Replaced the existing DealExtreme HB2835-H 3800K with it.

Old:
3800 kV * 10T / 150T * 11V = 2800 rpm

New
3595 kV * 11T / 150T * 11V = 2900 rpm

So my overall headspeed should increase slightly. I'll post my EagleTree logs when they come in.

I should also mentioned that I disabled the built-in 3A BEC on my Turnigy Plush 40A and put in a separate BEC / voltage limiter....

I haven't posted here for awhile...

....So I thought I had better update with some progress reports.

Well, I'm still loving the Blade 400, the Protos stays on teh shelf mostly as "too much heli" for me for now but I am making good progress with the B400 so it doesn't bother me too much.

I am now onto learning inver orientations. I have nose in inverted down OK in the sim and real life so it is time to move onto side in inverted.

Tarbosaurus 450: Flights 46-48

Posted 06-07-2009 at 01:45 AM by nasukaren

One flight in the morning and two (well 2.1) in the afternoon with the new LogicTech installed.

My LogicTech arrived and I gave it around 4 flights today until a loose washout arm took out my anti-rotation bracket. Fortunately, it was at spoolup and I shutdown without crashing.

My take on the LogicTech -- very nice so far, but not a huge improvement on my Colco GY400 which I had previously installed. Held steady in high speed forward and backward flights just fine. Still...
