Still Around

Posted 01-06-2010 at 01:32 PM by skigolfmike

Yes, I am still around and still doing a little heli flying. Mostly, I've been doing a lot of simulator flying lately since it's been really cold. However, since the last entry, I made it to IRCHA, the Dayton FunFly and the Lexington FunFly. I'll probably get things started by going to Huntsville on my Birthday again this year.

I have high school kids in band, so between running them around and being on the pit crew pretty much ends my flying every fall. Especially weekends....

Logo Almost Ready to Test Fly

Posted 05-28-2009 at 09:11 AM by skigolfmike

Since I had the Logo 400 pieced together, tonight I started to set it up.

I actually got home from golf league early and thought I'd have enough day light. Bad assumption on my part. I got into a discussion with my wife regarding a replacement heating and cooling system for the house. It's something we needed to discuss, but it did eat most of the remaining daylight. I did have enough daylight for a twilight flight of the Gooie 200 in the coldesac though. I actually had it flying...

Heli Number 6 - Logo 400

Posted 05-27-2009 at 10:17 AM by skigolfmike

Yep - got a Logo 400. I've really liked this size heli and figured it would be great for park flying, but either never got around to it was spending the heli funds flying or fixing something else. Sometimes when opportunity knocks you have to take it.

The long and short of it is a buddy from chat on the"Freak" needed to sell and made an offer I couldn't refuse. The price was great and I got to help out a fellow HeliFreak. I just hope my wife buys that explanation....

Almost FUBAR

Posted 05-15-2009 at 10:17 AM by skigolfmike

I really managed to almost screw up my DX7. I decided to put in the Dimension Engineering Voltage Regulator to improve battery life. Plus I was thinking of getting a TX Lipo to go with it so I really didn't have to think about charging. Just go fly.

I got out the instructions from Dimension and started to work. I thought I got the first lead (Vout) unsoldered, so I went to bend it away from the pad. Unfortunately, it was still soldered to the pad and I pulled the pad off the board....

Flyin and Fixin, Flyin and Fixin

Posted 05-13-2009 at 10:23 AM by skigolfmike

Did anyone ever mention helis are high needs creatures that need a lot of attention and TLC? If you've been flying for any length of time now, you know this is true. This is especially true with the smaller helis like my Furion and Gaui 200. These have turned out to be high maintenance little buggers. Probably because of the high performance being extracted from these little beasts.

I put a Scorpion 5300kV motor in the Gaui 200. While flying it in Huntsville, I lost control of...
