Flyin and Fixin, Flyin and Fixin

Did anyone ever mention helis are high needs creatures that need a lot of attention and TLC? If you've been flying for any length of time now, you know this is true. This is especially true with the smaller helis like my Furion and Gaui 200. These have turned out to be high maintenance little buggers. Probably because of the high performance being extracted from these little beasts.

I put a Scorpion 5300kV motor in the Gaui 200. While flying it in Huntsville, I lost control of the little beastie and hit my foot. Typical damage, busted a grip bolt, bent the main shaft. bent the grip arm and probably the mixing arms too. Anyway, I got it all back together and now it vibrates like crazy. Time for a rebuild. New grips, mixing arms, washout, tail upgrades, tail shaft, tail hub and grips. Hopefully, that will fix the little bugger.

The Furion has had it's problems too. I've sheared the TR grip bolts twice. The first just caused minor damage, the other was a full blown chicken dance. In the process I learned a lot about setting up the tail on this little bugger and it's been fine ever since.
however, I was spooling it up Monday night and it got a lot of shaking. I hit throttle hold before it got ugly and took a look. Turns out one of the mixing arms had broke in half. Well, that's a new one. That will get fixed as soon as the parts get here.

Fortunately the T600 and the T700 are not quite as maintenance intensive. Those are pretty much fuel, fly and clean. Well, other than my constant tweaking trying to find the sweet spot in the setup.

Anyway, just like a real heli, be prepared to spend some $$s on maintenance, even if you don't crash.
