So Much Time, So Little to Do (Sorry - Reverse That)

Posted 11-14-2008 at 08:17 AM by skigolfmike

This has been a crazy week. Between rebuilds, waiting for parts, online sim sessions and squeezing in a flight here and there, I've been keeping pretty busy. It's been a learning experience too.

The online Phoenix sim sessions are a blast. I just have to remember to turn the volume down in the head set so I don't start yelling. Boy did I hear about that. The good thing is trying to do some new stuff. If nothing else you get better at unusual attitude recoveries. Plus it's a...

Miscellaneous Ramblings

Posted 11-10-2008 at 01:00 PM by skigolfmike

This week I put the new elevator lever on my T600NP and test flew it, I finished building an F3P indoor foamie and went to an indoor fly-in.

The elevator lever test was interesting. First of all I could not get the engine to run. Turns out I had fixed a leak in the pipe header and it was 25* colder, so I was way lean. Then the heli was way out of trim, needed 8 clicks of down, to trim it. Worked great once I got it trimmed and the engine running reliably. Being that far out of...

Crashed and Resurrected

Posted 11-04-2008 at 02:49 PM by skigolfmike

It had to happen sooner or later because all helis that get flown eventually crash. This time it just happened to be my T600NP. I barely got 2 gallons of fuel through it, so it was still pretty new. Yeah, it was a bad crash too.

Basically, I tried a tail slide, got it too far away and lost orientation in the push out. I thought I might have it saved when it went inverted, but full negative didn't really do anything because it was still kind of sideways. Damage was the blades,...

Time to Change Gears

Posted 10-28-2008 at 10:19 AM by skigolfmike

The days are getting much shorter and the weather is cold and windy. Not as many good days left to fly. No doubt there will be good days here and there, but, for the most part, flying outdoors around here is winding down.

So, time to get the indoor stuff ready. Actually, heli wise, I don't have that much to do. The Gaui 200 is ready and waiting to go. I can throw the Blade 400 back together in an evening. The biggest remaining task is building a couple foamies. Fortunately,...

Now to Get Everything Flying Again

Posted 10-22-2008 at 09:07 AM by skigolfmike

The T600n is flying and has had over a gallon of fuel through it. The Furion is sorted out and seems to be flying pretty good. I changed to the 550 blades and long boom on the Gaui 550 and made it way better than I thought. About the only thing left to do is get the Blade 400 back together and flying again. So no, it's just a matter of tweaking.

I have some upgrades coming for the T600n. First I've noted the plastic blade grips have some movement around the bearings, so I have...
