Choices, choices!

Posted 11-21-2009 at 11:13 PM by ted_wears_a_hat (The Trials & Tribulations of a Learner)

Once again I've neglected to post here for awhile.

I haven't been flying much due to other commitments but have now gone over 250 packs (261 to be precise, 243 on the B400, 18 on the Protos).

My targets for this season was to get comfortable inverted and have all four inverted hovering orientations down by the start of next season. I have met the first goal and my inverted hovering in all orientations on the sim pretty but I have still only done nose in during a real flight....

....So I thought I had better update with some progress reports.

Well, I'm still loving the Blade 400, the Protos stays on teh shelf mostly as "too much heli" for me for now but I am making good progress with the B400 so it doesn't bother me too much.

I am now onto learning inver orientations. I have nose in inverted down OK in the sim and real life so it is time to move onto side in inverted.

5 packs, first loop, first comfortable nose in hovering and flying...good day

Oh yeah! Great day today. Sun was out, wind was moderately calm, skies were beautiful and very inviting! We were going out for a pub lunch and I convinced my other half to come to the field on the way there AND the way back.

Alright so in total I only flew 5 packs but it was still great fun.

I really went for it today, trying to put all the recent sim and real life orientation practise together and actually fly her. Wow, it took a couple of packs to warm up into but...

Protos Build - Bag D (cont)

Posted 03-18-2009 at 07:33 AM by ted_wears_a_hat (The Trials & Tribulations of a Learner)

- Added the rods and other links to the flybar cage set to 5.4 mm.

- Added rods to swash at 28.5 mm (thanks Ian M!) but I have no idea if the servos are still centred! Because of that I'm leaving the built head parts as seperate parts that just need ball linking together swash up. Means I can do head setup seperately when all the parts are in.

- I still need to fix the flybar paddles on properly but the flybar is set in place (equal both sides) with only one setscrew...
