Flights #125, #126, #127 & #128 and Some Battery Stats

Posted 02-07-2009 at 09:48 PM by ted_wears_a_hat (The Trials & Tribulations of a Learner)

Flew 4 packs today or rather hovered 4 packs today. I didn't try anything new or exciting as the light was going and I wanted to test my two new Zippy Flightmax packs.

I hovered tail and side in for the same time for each pack (bar the smaller eflite pack) to see how much I was using in terms of mah. I also did a couple of pitch pumps on each pack just to see, subjectively how powerful each felt. Throttle curve is 95-90-85-90-95 on the stock motor and ESC, 65mgs on cyclic, DS760...

Woohoo Finally Switched to Phoenix & Sim Orientation Training #3

Posted 02-07-2009 at 09:02 PM by ted_wears_a_hat (The Trials & Tribulations of a Learner)

Simulator Used: Phoenix 2.00q
Duration: 20 mins
Aims: Practise side in (both sides) hovering and nose in hovering.
Actual Progress: Hovered a full pack on each side in orientation. Hovered 3 minutes of nose in with no need to recover by going back to tail in.

I also had a lot of fun blasting up and down the quayside pulling stall turns at one end and sweeping bank turns across the dock at the other. Good stuff!

I even tried a little inverted hovering...

Flight #123 & #124

Posted 02-04-2009 at 02:59 PM by ted_wears_a_hat (The Trials & Tribulations of a Learner)

Practised side in hovering for two packs yesterday. Didn't have anyone with me so I had to watch for foot traffic as well so it wasn't the best session ever but on a positive note the heli is tracking straight and true and makes the stock CV B400 seem incredibly twitchy by comparison.

Sim Orientation Training #2

Posted 02-02-2009 at 04:00 PM by ted_wears_a_hat (The Trials & Tribulations of a Learner)

Simulator Used: Clearview
Duration: 20 mins
Aims: Practise side in (both sides) hovering and nose in hovering.
Actual Progress: Hovered a full pack on each side in orientation. Hovered 3 minutes of nose in with no need to recover by going back to tail in. My mind takes time to transfer to nose in though and first command is often wrong.

Sim Orientation Training #1

Posted 02-02-2009 at 01:22 PM by ted_wears_a_hat (The Trials & Tribulations of a Learner)

Simulator Used: Clearview
Duration: 20 mins
Aims: Practise side in (both sides) hovering and nose in hovering.
Actual Progress: Hovered a full pack on each side in orientation. Practised nose in and was holding it in a steady hover for a minute or two, when starting to get a little out of control I managed to always hold it enough to get the heli back tail in and fully controlled.
