"The Grass Is Brown Everywhere"
Year's ago I took a job in Texas and when I started work I discovered that I had been "sold" on the job as much as I had been selling myself to the company.
After 2 weeks of discovering how this new job was even worse than my previous one, I returned to the former job (with a big pay increase) and coined the phrase "The Grass Is Brown Everywhere" to explain why I returned.
The acronym TGIBE became my username on many forums and accounts over the years...
TRex 500 Static issue
Posted 02-24-2008 at 12:32 AM by TGibe
I am getting very nervous about my TRex 500 order. The 500 forum is buzzing (no pun intended) with folks who have had the problem and it makes me wonder if the order was such a good idea...
My kit should arrive next week and then I am probably looking at a 3-4 week build out (due to work and golf commitments) my hope is that we will get some kind of definitive answer to what is causing the problem and what can be done to avoid it.
It seems like there should be an answer.
I know a lot of the helifreaks are working hard to identify the root cause(s) and some up with workarounds.
For now I will just watch, wait, and fly my 450...

I wouldn't be too worried if I was you.
First of I don't think that the majority of 500 owners have this problem. Most fly just fine. For those who do have the problem, it seems like the simple grounding fix works well and it's very easy to do.
Ground the tail boom etc. and have fun with your new heli!Posted 02-24-2008 at 01:29 PM by int2str -

The best you can do is read some of the knowledgeable people on the forum, to see the tests they have done followed by how to fix it.
There are now several ways that you can fix the static issue, all with spending anywhere from $15(need a non contact voltage checker) to $50.
I just fixed mine today by following Fireups metal tail case fix.Posted 02-24-2008 at 04:05 PM by Jason Bell -

Mine dropped on the 12th flight, I immediately did the tail grounding and esc grounding mods and 16 flights later I am not longer concerned. Nothing remotely weird has happened since. It might fall out of the sky today, but until it does I am not even going to worry myself with it. I just don't fly it toward myself...I don't trust it that much yet. Playing dodge the heli isn't my idea of a good time.
