Burn, Baby Burn!

I forgot to post these pictures a long time ago. Earlier this summer, I was flying my 6s 600E CF and while on spool up of my second flight, I noticed the tail wagging a lot. I had a closer look before putting it in the air and noticed that the 611 gyro amp was on fire! I hit throttle hold but it wasn't working but luckily the heli didn't spool up. It was kind of comical that I was try to blow out the fire from like 5 feet away (I know I'm smarter than that).

So here are the autopsy pictures. I thought you might enjoy these:






I think the problem was that the shrinkwrap on the wires from the Motor to the ESC wore down and some electrical current was transmitted through the CF to the gyro amp.

The Silver lining:
1. Futaba warrantied the 611
2. The burned CF frame gave me an excuse to buy the Rotorworkz HFX frame.

That's very interesting. Nothing else was burned? Just the motor wire connectors and the 611 amp? And the frame conducted the current. Whoa!
