Remember that every gyro has its own instructions. Follow that first.

If you have a simple gyro(no delay, no limit setting) then you can try to use a hole on the servo arm that is closer to center. This effectively can make the servo throw the same as the limits so that you do not have binding. It also can help with bounce.

ATV's/Endpoints etc is never the way to set the limits when you have a gyro. It is for setting how fast the maximum piro rate is going to be.

Do the above UNLESS your gyro instructions say otherwise.

The dual rates won't help stop binding, it'll just slow your max piro rate

For your Turnigy gyro, try using a different servo arm hole. Sometimes moving to a closer in hole (you may have to drill) will help reduce bounce.

I take your advice. I am able to make the ball only 3mm from centre. It does help, but still has a bit of bounce, but I'm able to increase my gain.
The piro is slow, I have end point and dual rate set to 140.

What heli is this for? Many flying the T-Rex 250 have switched to shorter tail rotor blades as well to reduce bounce.

Read my advice on bounce over again. It may be from having a slow tail servo, low tailspeed or from something having play in the tail control. In your case it may not be due to the delay setting.

I guess because I only have 3mm from centre, I don't have a lot of movement on the slider.

I am not familiar with that heli but is it basically a stock setup? Is the headspeed low or relatively high?

You need to be able to use the entire slider range...full pitch at the tail.

If I have 5mm, I will have a full range, but with lot of bouncing.
I will try with my GY240 or get another gyro with delay.
I don't like this Turnigy gyro anyway, I can't get rid of the creep.

Thanks for your help.

Read the thread, most interesting. Anyway, I tried it and it worked good.
My servo, a S3155 wasn't fast enough. At the end of many settings, the servo responded well, better that I expected. Then some $$$ came along and I changed
for a 9257. Still, very good info, past the thread to a couple of guys, all were happy.
Would like to thank you.
Thanks

if the GY48V gyro is a knock off of the 101,in the GY instructions it says if your using a digital servo to set delay to zero

I think your answer lies in the first post of this thread.

Celm, Remember the instructions are being translated. The instructions for all of the knock off's read the same. Almost verbatim to each other. As airjawed said, the instructions should say 'closer to - 0'.

I did not know this information on delay existed!! For the past week I have been messing with everything except for delay. I had not thought of it cause this isn't in the stickies or setup 101!

Every question involving tails and wags had already been asked, found them in search.. All the answers have to do with gain, mechanical setup, or curves and none helped.

I had tail wag only occuring on quick throttle down in hover and a bounce when stopping from hard piros. I had waaay too little delay.. Now i have my stock GP780 + DS420M working perfect. Thank you very much.

Can this please be stickied and added to the heli setup 101 for reference?

Great that it worked for you! I'll see if I can get it stickied and hopefully more people can get benefit from it that way.
