I really don't care what is called, all I want to know is when and where can I purchase it and how much it will cost me.

Could it be that given the drive for a suitable name, the likes of names like "DS760" are well and truely behind us, and "Quark" could be the start of a theme? Of course this would imply that there might be forthcoming products which would also gain a sub-atomic inspired name; we're all eagerly hoping that may be the case.

So, in keeping with that theme...
  • Small, so Hadron, Meson and Baryon is probably out, besides which they all sound crap.
  • Quark has already been done, although "Charm" has a certain appeal.
  • The Quark's twin, the Lepton, would be perhaps upset Hirobo!
  • Given the enlightening nature of the LCD panel, "Photon" could be good, and anything to do with dark matter would be inappropriate.
  • Gluons sound messy, and Bosons, especially Spartan ones, would sound a bit like a mis-spelt lingerie range.
  • Honouring the "Quark" heritage might suggest "Zweig", as in "George".

I'm beginning to wonder which south Oxfordshire pub was being attended when somebody chose "Quark"!!!! Was it something to do with spin?

I'll suggest "Photon" then!

Steve

I can't really remember how I/we came up with the name Quark but my previous job at a particle accelerator most likely had something to do with it.

Considering this display unit is detachable (temporarily mounted on the heli) and the dictionary definitions of the word "pod" below, perhaps something like FlyPod, DataPod, Control Pod would be appropriate. Any more -pod ideas?

Pod:

* A detachable or self-contained unit on an aircraft, spacecraft, vehicle, or vessel, having a particular function. "the torpedo's sensor pod contains a television camera"

* A protective compartment, as for an automobile's instrument gauges.

* A streamlined enclosure, housing, or detachable container of some kind: an engine pod under the wing of an aircraft.

Better watch it, Angelos. Apple is likely to sue you.

Default "Spartan ESP" - Electronic Spartan Programmer

How about:

"Spartan ESP" (Electronic Spartan Programmer)

Simple and to the point but definitely tells what it is.

Or "Spartan ESP Pod" (Electronic Spartan Programmer Pod)

Or "Spartan ESP" (Electronic Spartan Program Panel)

"Programs your Spartan gyro so well that you would think it has ESP!"

"Does exactly what you want"

Maybe future generations could be wireless... lol

I have thought of another product name to consider.
A.I.R. POD
Advanced Integrated Remote.

Our aim is not to exceed $50 but we will only finalise the price once we have accounted all production costs.

Cheers,
Angelos

It is actually a quite old project but it is expected to materialise very soon. We even have the plastics ready for it.

My first thought was disappointment to not see a "top secret" area of the instructions blacked out just to keep up the guessing games a little longer!! Who knows what else this might get used for, but I have a suspicion that it's firmware will be USB upgradable,!

At least we know what to call it now!

Hmmmm... and I see that Angelos suggested the name HERE so I guess he gets "prize" of the pre-production unit as promised HERE!!!

Rather frustratingly a search on that bar-code comes up blank!
