You wanted to see neat, I guess, so... this is what can be achieved if you shorten your leads and crimp on new connectors. No messy bundles of cable.

ESC cable also shortened to the perfect length. Shows one antenna in short length of tube.

ESC is mounted on front of bottom plate using a cable tie through a couple of extra holes.

ESC cabling to motor runs neatly underneath.

Gyro cabling coiled to reduce vibration. Servo connector inside frame. Servo cable supported in braid. Also shows one antenna.

Hope that give you a few useful ideas.

Steve

Steve, nice to see a fellow Futaba man!

Seems to be fewer and fewer of us huh.

Real real nice wiring work.

I myself was thinking of shortening the wires on my build and even bought the tools & the terminal kits & plugs and tried a few off attempts but wasn't 100% happy with the results.

That wire is so thin an small and it really takes just the right feel for getting the terminal crimped without going to far and crushing it that all in all I just was to worried about one bad connection bringing the helo down that I opted for the bundling.

That was three years ago and since then I had done quite a bit for it my O scale trains now and gotten pretty good but still, those don't fall out of the sky.

But it looks like you got the hang of it and my hats off to you, very very nice cabling.

Where do you buy the black mesh sleeve material?
hellafreeaky, I got a lot of my stuff from CableOrganizer.com

Specifically here: http://cableorganizer.com/wire-management/

One of the things I liked that I could get here, along with such a hug availability of sizes, types & colors, was also the multiple ratio heat shrink too.

In the heat shrink section there are 2:1, 3:1, 4:1 & 6:1 which all means a much larger dia to start that then shrinks down a great deal to the finished size.

This then allowed me to cover things such as the deans connectors and other types of larger items that then the extra could hang over its neighboring part so then when shrunk, all then tightened down nicely over every thing.

All in all yes there was a lot more figuring out on everything I had to buy, (and for sure, a bit left over) but in the end all the choices made the eventual outcome very nice.

Best of luck with it all

How do you guys do the "pig's tail" wiring thing? Looks pretty neat on the gyro wires.

Thanks

Just wrap the wire around something cylindrical, like a screwdriver. The wire will retain the circular shape.

No, there isn't a bat in the heli so it's leaning back on the tail fin.

As a newbie just about to start the build of my 450 Sport, this thread, which I just found, will be invaluable once I get to that stage. Thanks!

Can someone post some general guides to wiring a Heli? Do's and dont's... All this pics are very ilustrative but I'm sure there are a lot of "rules" that a pic cannot tell to a newbie...

Thanks

Mebbe others will have do's and dont's but I've found that it mostly
comes down to wiring/soldering skills and personal build preference.

Keeping ESC/motor high-current wires as far away from low-current wiring
(like servo wires...Rx antennas) is about the only rule I follow.

If you mess with the wiring, like removing plugs, shortening wires, etc.
you void your warranty. I void all warranties instantly.
Product has a warranty? Not when they sell it to me.

So for all new servos that I buy - I throw them on a servo tester
and see if I have an OOBF, out of box failure. Then after I know
that I don't have to return it I'll hack up the wiring and do what I want.

I'm the same with cutting wires, just be carefull with the gyro wire because if you want to put it on another heli after upgrading you might find your options are limited as to placement.

P.s If you put all the 'Show off your wiring' threads on this forum together it might make a good sticky.
