Default Landing Gear Nut & Canopy Grommet

I went to my friendly local orthodontist and got an inch of power chain, cut the links apart and PRESTO. Tiny little O-rings to use as landing gear nuts and canopy grommets for those custom printed paper canopies.

Here is one installed on the back of the landing skid.

Here is a close up of one (mm ruler shown for scale)

Here is how the orthodontist gets them

Cool...

Little O-rings work really well on the skids... Like the ones that were in the mSR head. Also, a few layers of a short length of heat shrink on the tips of each skid works equally well.

I did TomC's idea of using the spare canopy grommets on the skids. Makes spooling up and landing on slick surfaces more solid and planted. Also plan to get a video showcasing another great feature of skid friction.

These things work great for the swash grommet mod too.

Two for the front balls
One for the rear ball

What benefits are added by putting o-rings on the skids like this?
