Question Belt tension

How tight should the belt be on the 425?

I just put enough tension so that with light pressure on the front of the belt it only pushes in about half of the gap if that makes sense. you dont want it too loose so it skips a tooth or too tight where it puts more stress on the motor. Hope this helps, not sure how else to describe it.

That's pretty much what I figured. Just wanted to make sure. Thanks.

Oh, she's done, but she keeps ending up in pieces. I am trying to figure out why my tail is all over the place. I think I may have a vibration somewhere that's messing with the gyro. . I'm going to change out the tail output shaft in case it's bent a little and the tail hub. Other than that, I don't know what to do. The mains are balanced. Ever since the first crash she just hasn't been right.

Check the hub between the tail blade grips. Mine was bent on my last crash. Take it off with the blade grips and blades stil on. Then hold the blade grips and spin the hub. If it is bent you will feel or see the blade grips move.

Thanks. I ordered one already, thinking it was the culprit. It should be here today. I'll verify with that method though. I didn't even think of checking it like that. I'm sure that'd mess with the gyro. All my settings are correct.

I have crashed my plastic Hurry twice and on both occasions i ruined the bearings on main shaft.
Bad bearings makes vibrations...
Also on assembly i noticed that if i tighten the screws to much next to the tail pulley then the lower bearing on the pulley got notchy (but that could be just my heli).
So check your bearings if you have crashed.

I did. They all seem pretty good. I'm taking her ip for a test flight at lunch today. Hopefully changing out that bent tail hub did the trick. The shaft was straight from what I could tell after chucking it up in my drill. We shall see.

Well, everything was good after replacing the tail hub and removing the thick foam pad and metal plate under my gyro and using only a thin mounting pad. The only problem is that I was so excited that I got her back up flying again that I managed to forget to set the timer on my tx so that I knew when to set her down. That, coupled with the fact that I was flying pretty hard because I had an audience, lead me to fly a little too far into the pack, and she went into LVC right as I was pulling out of a loop close to the ground. Needless to say, I was unable to pull enough power to recover from the loop, and she bounced right off the ground, breaking the landing gear, stripping the front drive gear, and cracking both side frames just under the motor mount, among other things that got damaged-blades, etc. FML

Yeah. It's pretty embarrassing. At least I got in two good flights. . Just shows that I'm still kind of a newbie.

Yeah. It is good to know that I'm not the only one, but it always sucks to see someone's heli that they put time, money, and effort into ending up in pieces, too. That's just part of this hobby though. Rebuild and get back in the air-story of my life.

At the risk of starting a long running argument - this is why I use a lipo monitor as well as a timer - I have often forgotten to start the timer, so the lipo monitor is a very handy back-up.

Hey Mike, does the Lipo monitor tell you when your loops are looking a bit low?? Might get one if so...;-)

Cheers

Sorry Nick - I hadn't watched your video before - I thought that you were saying that your battery had gone flat as well - obviously not.

On the plus side, your Hurri bounced really well on impact
