Protos 500 Build
I cant tell you how excited I am am to finally be an owner of a PRÔTOS 500, I have been drooling over the pieces in the kit and the amazingly bright canopy
Here are the details of the build, I am a sport flyer and may consider going down to a 14T pinion as I'm still learning If you have any tips that may help the build, please feel free to comment PRÔTOS 500 Carbon Kit Scorpion 880KV, 1500W YGE 60A SAB Blades Cyclic Servos Savox 1250MG Tail Servos Still deciding either Savox or MKS - Full size servo FBL/RX AR7200BX Spektrum Upgrades MSH Orange Landing Gear MSH Metal 18T Tail Pulley |

Nice, I have a similar setup except I have a JR 7900 on the tail and an align esc because the guy I got it from couldn't get the one it came with to work right.

Excellent choice on the savox 1290mg. You might want to pull those SAB blades and install some cheaper ones if you are still learning.

I am setting it up FBL and eventually stretch so I figure these blades won't mean much to me

So was considering going down to a 13 or 14T pinion but its pretty expensive...seems you need to buy a shaft adapter which brings the total cost up to about $30..
would it be a bad idea to use the 15T, I did have a trex 500 which i did basic flight with but i do expect the protos to be a little more of a handful |

You can use the 15T with the YGE.

Yes. Just make sure to program the YGE using the sticks or card so that it knows the stick hi/lo values.

Wow this thing goes together quickly, i see what they mean by the low parts count
Main shaft was a little bit of a bear to get in, Canopy cracked a little putting it on...aside from that smooth sailing Day 1: Main Frame together |

You should move the canopy posts to the next most forward hole and put the screws that hold the anti-rotation bracket in the back.

The anti-rotation bracket stays in same place. Just use the canopy posts to hold it instead of the screws.

Got the tail assembly on, another breeze..and really digging the simplicity of this build Ok now at a stand still, I need to epoxy the tail boom support mounts...do I have to use epoxy or would CA work? Also waiting for my FBL head to come before I start assembling the head, and then also waiting for my FBL unit to start centering servos and attaching the head |

CA will work if you use enough of it. I've used it before when I was in a hurry. Never had a problem in flight, but in a crash, it will usually come out. But if you have bad vibes, it could eventually crack and become loose. Plus with CA, you don't have much time to set the angle of the support ends.

I used CA on the mini rods, broke it putting the rods on the heli, the epoxy is a must IMO. Fast cure is prolly fine though (still gives you 5mins to get the angle right) and the heli makes a pretty decent clamp
