[CRASH] X7 goes in at over 100mph...
I'm currently attributing this crash to either the plastic servo arms, or a link that broke. It happened after a speed run, rolled 90 and pushed the nose to come around into an inverted hurricane, something snapped and it flopped around before hitting the ground at 100 mph.
Thankfully, Gaui has built an amazing machine. The entire core is intact, packs are fine, the main gear is fine. Even the whole head is fine: grips, spindle, grip arms, and swash. The tail slider rod is fine for those who were wondering if it would hold up. lmao! So far at quick glance: Boom/TT, front TT gear, tail hub, landing gear, and main shaft. No worse than a normal crash, actually less, but you wouldn't have thought that if you saw it hit the way it did! Finally, that new car smell is gone, now I can relax next time flying it...lol.

wow, sheared main shaft. i send my condolences. . will you keep us posted on the parts total? any forced mechanical interaction with frame or anything? did you lose the motor heat sink plates? or were they removed during assessment?

Not that I can tell yet. I couldn't find the other main linkage so I can't confirm that it's intact. Here's the boom so I know it wasn't a boom strike of any kind.
Oh, I wasn't running the heat sinks, the 4035 doesn't get all that hot. What you see is what I picked up from the field. lol.

This was inevitable if it was a hardware failure. Time to get metal arms and QuickUK links?

Yep! Already looking at them. Can't say for sure what happened, I can only guess. I'm going back out there tomorrow, I need to find the other main link. If its broke, we can't use that to determine cause, but if it's still intact, then I know it wasn't a factor.

sorry to hear
by the way sorry to hear about your issue. Were you able to hit throttle hold before it hit?

Well, it looks like it was a spectacular crash at least! I don't suppose Sly was taping?

We were at different fields at the time. I saw enough carnage yesterday

quick links
You'll want to use the short links the others are too long and would have to be cut down

I wouldn't jump to conclusions, by what I can tell from what I have in hand, the linkages seem plenty strong. I have 3 of 5, I need to go out and locate the other main and one of the servo linkages. The 3 I have look extremely stressed from the crash, yet perfectly intact. Both tail linkages are also intact, and yet the tail servo arm snapped, as well as all 3 servo arms.
I'd be more concerned with the plastic arms supplied in the kit, they need to be shaved down so much to fit. Metal arms are next for sure. Easily a $320 crash, but FAR from a rekit. Not including blades, it's a $200 crash, and that includes a couple parts that come in pairs, and a near $100 canopy. lol.

Yep, perfectly. They have 18mm holes, which worked out to be perfect geometry on my X7 with vbar.

I'm running the Align metal arms and they work perfect on the inside hole.
