Stock blades and KBDD 104mm not as good as carbon fiber blades
I have had big issues with my tail on 7HV. Tail kicking out in tic-tocs and tail wag. Ordered some kbdd 104mm extreme since ive read some good things about the kbdd blades. This didnt solve the tail issues not even the Align 700 tail hun. Tried some 107mm carbon fiber blades and all issues solved.
Edit; issues back. Maybe due to bad motor.... // Truls

Truls,
Sorry you did not like them, sir! I am still using them on my 7HV and they work brilliantly, so something else is going on.

The 104s i tried on a 7HV were fine, i would check the set up first, 107mm might be a bandaid.

I've not heard of any 107mm tails. Who makes those?
Incidentally, I am by no means a KBDD sponsored pilot, and I fly them on both of my birds without any shortcomings.

KBDD tail blades work fine - maybe you got a bad set?

So its not that the blades suck considering plenty of people use them without issue its that they dont work on your particular set up. Maybe you should reconsider your thread title.

SIZE THE LINKS THAT ATTACH TO THE TAIL BLADE GRIPS. They are tight and cause most of these issues. Trust me.

Here are the first test with new carbon fiber blades installed: http://youtu.be/rf3KHK0_jkM Dont have video with the KBDD blades installed, but the tail did not hold the tail to this video.. Not sure about headspeed, but throttlecurve at 100-90-90-90-100, Align 700mx 530kv, 13t pinion. Will change the title if i find something wrong with another part of my helli. |

Something is set up wrong or something is bent. If it is kicking out in tic docs and has wag, you have issues other than the tail blades.
What FBL system are you running? Have you checked the order of the thrust bearings in the tail grips (small diameter race to the outside)? Have you checked to make sure the tail hub is not rocking on the tail shaft? I do however find it odd that I don't see any kicking out or wag in the video you posted with the other tail blades. My guess is that the new blades might be masking another issue.

"Something is set up wrong or something is bent."
I agree. Trulsen, When I have a machine that is not performing well, yet I see other, similarly equipped machines performing well, I step back and look to see what is different between the way mine is set up and the way the others are set up. Years ago (early 1990's), someone gave me a .60 sized Kyosho machine to test. I set it up and flew it, and thought it was terrible. I gave it back, declaring it to be a disaster. I went to a fun fly a short time later, and saw someone flying one, doing what I now recognize as 3D, in a very early form. The other Kysoho flew beautifully. It was the same exact helicopter, but mine was not set up right. I learned it after I had given it back. The KBDD Tail Blades fly beautifully on the 7HV (and on the Odin, and on Raptor .90's, and on Trex 700E's-I have all of them flying with KBDD EE Tail Blades-I am one of many who test the KBDD Blades before they go into production). Can you describe your set up?

If you have ferrites laying about it might be worth a shot trying them on the super bec (lot of distortion from it), same do a manual by hand and vibe balancing of the tail. You could also try make some chineese weights on the tail, that helps too. Did that on the 3D+ because in some hard maneuvers the tail kicked, that cured the kick.
Kbdds are so light that any inbalance in the mechanics gets quite noticeable.

Will try a ferrite ring on. Thanks Klaus! Will also put back on the stock tail hub to try if the problems are still there. |

Check and re-check your tail. Make 100% sure your tail thrust bearings are installed the right way. Make sure all the links are sized properly and tail slider moves smooth as silk. Check for vibrations as well. KBDDs are good tail blades but I noticed some of the pairs I had were unbalanced. Balance them and try again. Just a little piece of clear scotch tape is all it takes.
