It's just like Raf's TDR on re-entry, except he would need LOS to Mars for this one, I think

If that works I'll eat my cap, including the bloggie. I'll be watching with interest.

Good luck to them though. Thanks for the date to look out for.

Cheers

An absolutely amazing event! Imagine, a 2000 pound rover, flown into a crater by an UNTESTED uav!!!!

I well remember when man landed on the moon. I still have a scrap book with the newspaper clipping in it.
The ONE time I ditched school and didn't get in trouble with my mom.

Really can't believe this went off without a hitch, never seen such a complicated landing system.

Really hope they get some worthwhile data.

Well I remember it too, on a black & white TV, unprecedented live western transmission on the national TV in then communist Poland. The reason you didn't get in trouble with your mom was the landing happened in the dead middle of summer vacations, Tom

What a bunch of old gits we are. I remember it too. Huddled round the crappy little black and white tv in the early hours of the morning, under a travelling rug in the living room, with a special dispensation from my mum to stay up late. Good times. The funny thing is when you speak to most young people today they have no comprehension of what an incredible achievement it all was, and kind of dismiss it all as 'So what, they went to the moon.'

This is kind of up there with it, but don't forget if this went wrong nobody died, and it is a good 43 years later, so they should be better. No idea how they achieved the moon way back then.

Cheers

A degree of luck, a great deal of guts and determination and a lot of political and engineering willpower!

They say Apollo had as much computing power as a modern calculator and to think the men who went had little hope of rescue if things went pear-shaped.

Jerry, I was one of these summer school bound students. Some thing about my attitude towards homework.
