![]() I thought it might be nice to have a spot to put our Vortex flight videos, so they can be easily found. To this end, I am starting this thread, and will include my first and second videos. Again apologies for the awful hat cam alignment, I just can't seem to get it right, and I do try. Anyway, the first video was my maiden flight, and this second one was from three o'clock today, and it was getting pretty windy. Just watch how fast I have to track left to right compared to right to left to follow the heli, when I go down wind as opposed to up, in a normal pass. Or check out the tree to my left as I land.
Considering the wind, I think it does a pretty good job. What do you guys think? Pity I'm not a better pilot, who could demonstrate more, but at least I am a normal guy, if you see what I mean. Not HeliStig, is what I'm trying to say, so if I can do it lots of other people will be able to do it too. Maiden. Some 20 or 30 packs later I guess, on a very windy day. Cheers Sutty

![]() Sutty,
Good idea for the thread. ![]() Sorry I don't have the time to watch right now, as I was about to head out the door. I will catch up later and hope to have my own contributions by next weekend.

![]() +1 on the keeness. That was some wind noise--could barely hear the timer going off.

![]() lol, well yes, I don't let much put me off, but when I posted it was more about the unit than what I'd been up to. The fact is I would have flown with my previous controller too, so what I wanted to do was try out the Vortex in those types of conditions as well, which is why I went out, come what may. The thing that I was testing, and then wanted to show you with the video, which hopefully came across, is that the Vortex performs exceptionally well in windy and gusty conditions. I know other controllers do too, but we didn't know about this one. Bear in mind that tree to my left, near the end, is bare of all leaves, but if you look at the trees behind me, when I turn around at the end, just briefly, for about the last two seconds of video, you will see that those are being bashed about pretty good, yet the heli was impressively stable.
Cheers Sutty

![]() Yes the heli was very stable for sure. Not only from the noise, but you could tell by the way the heli accelerated when turning down wind that it was very windy. Absent the noise, one wouldn't have half the idea that it was windy by how stable the heli was. And the piros were nice in the wind too.

![]() Here's my contribution. This was the heli's third actual flight. The two previous flights were in the Dome this evening as well. This shall be the first of many to come this season.

![]() Thanks Sutty. The 50-yard line would have been nice though.

![]() You know, Bob... I'd do the $50.00! Just think about quality practice and no wind!

![]() $50 per hour isn't bad. But an hour goes by quickly. A guy would need two hours to accomplish a fair amount of tuning. Hey, maybe after Tax time!!
