I use gimp to edit and print my paper canopies just right click on the dowloaded file and select edit with gimp. Then print, you get a window where you can determine in mm or inch or % how large it needs to be. I don't remember by heart how large I printed them. I guess trial and error is needed. However when printed with gimp with stock settings it will be pretty close (propably too large).

EDIT: I believe witdh was around 180mm or a tad smaller

Thanx.. dude

I just installed Gimp, played around with "width" in print... and figured out that 162 mm was it for me

Default mCPx Paper Canopy -- First Aftermarket mCPx Hop-Up?

I was going to try to design my own P51 Mustang inspired canopy. It was going to include riveted panels, red and white checkered nose and pinup girl too but couldn't figure out how to do it. :-(

I did one in a green camo pop rivetted sheet metal. Tiger mouth, pinup girl, bomb drop tags and kill tags. printed it out and deleted the file by accident. I may try to post pics of it later. If you like it, I could probably mail it to you.

Here got some pics of it. I could probably do it again if you give me some ideas of what you want.

Default Laminating film anyone?

Try printing out canopy then iron on a layer of laminating film. 0.6 mil on plain copy paper is lighter than photo and more durable

I was thinking about chrome riveted panels (don't know how chrome color would print out), red and white checkered tail, red and white mouth on the nose, smaller cockpit windows up high just in front of the swash, pinup girl somewhere below the swash and the star with bar angled in the back.

No affiliation. I just run it in all my vehicles. Got its start from a jet mechanic so I thought it would be appropriate

I work alot during the week and weekends are mostly time with my 2 kids. I will do what I can do in the spare time I have inbetween. Will let you know when I get some rough ideas going to see if you like or have any input.

Oh, would you prefer it on the TDR styled canopy or the Original mCPX. I think I still have a T-rex inspired canopy as well.

Default For those into making their own designs

Hi guys,

if you want to make your own designs: Adobe is currently giving away Photoshop CS2 for free:

http://www.adobe.com/downloads/cs2_downloads/index.html

Admitted, its "old" software, but leaps and bounds better than Gimp or any other free software in my opinion. And its the Standard, so if you have to learn anyway, I think this would be the way to go.

Happy editing
Dremel

Thanks for the heads up. I wouldn't call it "old". It's a few revisions behind, however I know there are some professionals who uses Photoshop for a living that are still on CS2.

It'll definitely do everything we hobbyist ask of it.

Is CS better than photoshop 7? That's what I have right now. Just wish I knew how to use it better!

Paint.net does just as good as photoshop but much easier to use, in my opinion. PLenty of plug-ins are on their forums too. Oh, it's free too.----> http://www.getpaint.net/

CS2 is version 9.

Worthy upgrade IMHO.

As some asked me about open files: I do not save them, so I only have the flattened files from my artwork. I do however have a blank (psd layer file) from which I start each design. Hope the WeTransfer link works as Photosh*tbucket doesnt allow for layer files.

Have fun
Dr
