Default What is your lightest setup?

I'm getting a little weight crazy on a build and I'm looking to make a super light MCPX. I'm willing to sacrifice a little weight in the solid extended tail and solid main shaft.

Lighter thoughts
KBDD Pilots Choice 2.0g
HP03s 16,600 = 3.2g
XP7a = about 1.40g (?)
lowpro stock landing gear (from the FIA canopy)
Stock Canopy = 2.5
hyperion 250 batteries = 7.995g on avg. Sticker .05g
reverse mounting the battery to make the plug wire shorter
MH head
Stock frame with Dylan's frame supports (again kind of wanting the strength addition like solid CF)

What are your light builds? Photos? Overall weights?

A double FET XP-3a ESC will be less than 1g. Works great with the c05m.

I suggest a 7mm tail motor with Dylan's mount. I went with Dylan's frame/tail boom support, don't know how much it adds, but I think it makes a big difference in durability. Same with the carbon cage.

While you're at it, get a shortened main shaft from Topper. It will increase durability over the hollow stock shaft, but weight savings, if any, depends on how short you go. I've crashed hard enough inverted to break the feathering spindle, but my 3mm shortened main shaft from Topper was ok.

Can't wait to see what your AUW ends up being.

My suggestions as I was planning a lightweight also (too busy with my bigger birds though):

KBDD Pilots Choice 2.0g
stock HP blades 1,5(?)

HP03s 16,600 = 3.2g
AFAIK this motor bogs a lot on the mcpx. C05 it is.

XP7a = about 1.40g (?)

double FET XP3 0,8g

lowpro stock landing gear (from the FIA canopy)
stock seems flimsier, so lighter?

Stock Canopy = 2.5
built a paper canopy from plastic white glossy film (like transparent sheets) 1,4g

hyperion 250 batteries = 7.995g on avg. Sticker .05g
remove black plastic

reverse mounting the battery to make the plug wire shorter
nice thinking!

MH head
Stock frame with Dylan's frame supports (again kind of wanting the strength addition like solid CF)

Yes

Maybe drill some holes in tail boom mount triangles?
Delete tail fin
straight cables to the tail (no wrap around)

thanks dr dremel

I have high hopes for the HP03t 16,600, i have not seen anyone talking about it specifically so i bit the bullet. I have one on the way and i will have a comparison between it and the C05m.

I plan on putting an 8t on the hp03t but I have a 9t to try out. The C05m i have has a long 9t pinion on it covering the whole shaft on it so I don't plan on digging it off to test it with an 8t, sorry.

and the FIA landing gear is great it is just that right kind of flimsy to not be as hard on the mounting pins. I like it a lot so fat. I had them on my HP05 for a couple weeks, I'm mean wrecks... and they were fantastic.

I'm probably going to take the plastic off the battery but its a major pain to get the battery connector off and on.

Ill remove the fin for testing but i like it for visability, the stock one with the sticker off is a bright white like my pilot choice main blades. (ill weigh the blade hp ones)

double FET XP3, really? Will it handle the hp03s 16,600 or the c05m?
Where can i get one? I want

Holy (the good kind)

My initial thought on my:
C05m 9t
stock frame
extended tail
stock tail motor
KBDD pilots choice mains
10a esc

this thing is not ZEN. It wants to haul. at this point i can control my hp05 with xframe and 120sr tail in the house better.

I had lopro skids on but broke them trying not to hit my TV. Ill attempting to fix them now with hot glue, broke rear mount clean off and broke in 2 just under that. I have a little tbo in the house on up and down pitch pumps after about the 3rd one. Which i think will translate to much more outdoors. Probably going to do the dual tail mod.

This thing actually feels like its on ice. I cant wait to get it outside and see what it can do. I can't even imagine what will happen when I put a 2g lighter motor in it.

Fatties Rule

My mcpx or HCPX as I call it weighs in at a hefty 77.5g AUW

Is there a part number just for this skids, or do we have to buy the whole body kit?

ok I went to a dual 6mm tail. Kinda tail heavy but holds. Will I get more thrust for the dual set up or the 7mm oversky tail?

Its been a looong time ago someone tested it (German forum), but maybe it works if the heli is really lightweight.

There is still some cable hidden underneath the plastic, at least on the Nanos. Be careful not to rip them off the metal tabs, its seemingly impossible to solder on these (alu).

You can get a colored tail rotor for better visibility, but of course it will blur.

Its not that difficult to stack the FETs and the esc can handle a lot more than just C05
