Question Pack sizes for 12S and 14S

I've been reading the through threads looking for pack sizes. I run 4400 6S Gens Ace and Thunder Power packs in my existing 700 and am planning to share them with my Diabolo when using the appropriate pinion. I find the 4400s are a sweet spot for me on 12S.

For the 14S setup I'm not so sure. I see Gens Ace has a 7S 4400 and Thunder Power has a 7S 3850. I'm leaning towards 3850 14S to get a similar feel to 4400 12S, but the Thunder Power prices are too high for the performance. The Gens Ace 4400 14S will work, but I'm wondering if they will be a tad heavy?

What pack sizes are you all running - 12S and 14S options? It seems most are running around 5000mAh size.

I'm using Thunder Power 7s 4400, and Revolectrix 7s 4400 packs. If you want a smaller capacity 7s pack Revolectrix makes a 7s 3700 pack.

Awesome, how do you find the 7S 4400 - do you notice the extra weight over 12S? Did you even run your Diabolo on 12S, how does it compare?

I fly TP 4400 14S and 12S and there is a noticeable weight difference in flight.

+1 on 12s I flew TP4400s 700 gram packs and now have TP 4400 7s 800 gram packs and I notice the extra weight in flight, I have some 7s TP 3850s 700 gram packs on the way. The larger packs are fine for big sky and speed but for 3D I prefer the lighter.

A buddy of mine got prices for me on custom packs. This seems pretty good, do you guys think this will work?

7S*2 3800 45C, 282*42*58.5mm, 1300g

Flight times should be ok I reckon, similar to 12S 4400?

My flight times with 12S & 14S 4400 packs are very similar. TBH if I were to buy packs again I would go for the 12S, I see no advantage for 3D with 14S, IMO.

Default Pack sizes for 12S and 14S

I tried 12 and 14s on tdr and i would agree that 12s is good for 3d

I would say that 14S is (a little bit) better for speed flying -- mostly to bring down the average amperage (a little bit).

In my case, I was flying two 6S 5000 mAh (12S) for speed; when I switched over to 14S I used two 7S 4400 mAh packs. The difference in weight was not much; the 7S 4400 mAh packs were maybe 10 grams heavier than the 6S 5000 mAh packs.

If I had to do it all over again for speed flying, I'd go straight to 16S using a YGE 320HV. For 3D, I'd stick with 6S 4400 mAh packs.

I've decided to stick with my 12S 4400 packs for normal 3D flying. I'll have a pinion for 14S too, so when I decide to try a speed or 750 upgrade I'll get a few 7S packs.

What is the optimal 12s battery sizes/weight for 3D flight?

Gens Ace 5000mah 6s 60c - 806g = 1,6kg
Gens Ace 4400mAh 6s 55c - 725g = 1.45kg

Or something else maybe.

I dont know about optimal, but I use:

14S 4400mah 1.6kg - 4min flight time
12S 5000mah 1.6kg - 4min flight time

You could go smaller, but it would cost you flight time.
Those flight times are with moderate to hard flight style @ 2100rpm
If you slow it down and take it easy, could get up to 10mins(have done a 10min hover/ slow circuit flight)
