Blade 130x Tail Issue - Spinning Tail, Tail Blowout, Issue / Resolution

Thanks for the reply.
The gears are good, I have now had to change many times due to crashes mainly caused by this tail blow out issue.
I've purchased many tail upgrades today, normal servo, lynx tail housing, lynx pitch slider ect.
However, I suspect receiver issues because sometimes its not there and fly's great. It sometimes appears during a flight, but never disappears during flight unless I re initialise the receiver. I think I need to clarify this before I fit some expensive upgrades.

More easy stuff to check if you haven't already -

Look over the tail servo. Do the two white gears line up OK? Is the motor secure in the motor mount (the black bands around the motor aren't cracked and the motor can't slide in the mount)? Is the servo slider mechanics secured to the circuit board (the screws tend to get loose with time)? Do the wires connecting the 3-in-1 to the servo and from the board to the motor seem soldered ok (some intermittent problems have been caused by poor solder connections)?

Does the heading hold function work in a bench test? Unplug motor, apply power and provide some throttle to activate the gyros. Rotate the 130x back and forth a bit. Do you see the pitch slider move as the 3-in-1 tries to return the 130x to the original heading?

Hi, I checked your suggestions, the servo circuit was a little loose so thats now tight. There does seem to be a slight bit more play in the tail servo than the cyclic servos, about double, not sure how this would effect things.
Your test with the motor disconnected gave some interesting results.
For example, disconnect motor, turn tx on, power up heli, check motor is disconnected, apply half throttle, servos activate and are working normally, either just wait or roll the heli around, or use the tx controls, after around 1 1/2 minutes the servos starts to shut down randomly, some go first. Reduce throttle back to low and servos reset.
Can someone confirm this is normal?
Batteries are good and when working servos are working as expected for FBL operation and tail is acting like HH mode.

Update, I notice that with the servos active the if you push cyclic right and hold for 5 seconds you need to push cyclic left for 5 seconds before the servo moves left. I guess this does not happen in the air as FBL works differently on the bench but it is worth noting. It does not answer my question above though of servos shutting down.

Suddenlt tail does not anymore hold on some maneuvers. I have metal C and D gears and carbon TT. Are there other reasons than round gears or tt? Tail servo is new and cleaned.

By this you mean the D hole was worn out and to much twist / rotational play?

My tail also doesn't hold very well when inverted and doing mild 3D

After wearing out my metal C & D gears I went back to plastic, the are cheap and quick to replace.

What I have found is that some Loctite 680 on the D gear pretty much prevents it rounding out. If I have a crash it is more likely to strip a tooth on the D gear. I also have done the same with the C gear but I don't go through them very much so I suppose it is working.

A small grain of sand seized my tail servo today causing it to over heat and melt the motor holder a little. The tail definatly is the weak point in this model. Anyone have suggestions to protect the servos?

One more tip from me: a backwards installed tail shaft collar will cause vibrations. Check that the square side is outwards. Then, the bearing can do its work.

had a problem today with my 130x doing a hard tailwag, read this thread and sure enough i put that collar on backwards. thanks alot!

On a stock tail case I put a bearing on collar side and put the collar on backwards,works great for me.
