Has anyone fit a 700 class 12mm head on their trex 600? Or has anyone swapped over from a 10 to 12mm mainshaft? I'm looking into stretching a hwc trex 600 conversion.

RJX makes a 90size 10mm head ......

Though, If your looking to replace the 10mm with a 12mm main shaft you will need to get either main shaft bearings that will fit the bearing block of the 600 frames or have a set of 700 bearing blocks machined to fit the 600.

10mm main shaft is ok for 700. Compass 7HV has 10mm.

12mm is ok for 800. Align offers stretch kit for T-Rex 700.

I am going to stretch Assault 700 DFC to 800mm some day. I am convinced Align drive train fits.

Hi guys! I've been a long time lurker on this site and especially this thread. I've gained TONS of good info on my 600 stretch project and I've picked up parts here and there to get closer to being airborne. So far i'm doing the 700 tail boom with 105 blades and the 10mm main shaft with DFC head and the RJX parts that will allow me to run the 14mm grips for the 700mm blades. Thanks to all you that have contributed the info to this thread that makes it so easy to do this stretch. Ok now to my question. I plan on running 12S and a HS around 1800 rpm for mostly sport flying and maybe some light 3D, i'm still learning. From all I've read the 115t 700 main gear is the way to go. I noticed that Align makes a 600MX that is 510Kv, http://www.helidirect.com/align-600m...mx-p-23957.hdx. Will this motor work with the stretch? It seems to me that the amp and watt rating is on par with the 700 motors, wasn't sure if there was a drawback to using it that I wasn't seeing.

Couldn't say for certain about the ALIGN motor...never tried one..
I always went with a after market motor....
Scorpion 4035-500, 5020-450 or KDE 700XF

IMHO,
Using a 600 class motor in a 700 configuration may not be a wise choice considering the additional load.
I'm sure others will post their thoughts.

Ok , that was kinda the answer I was looking for. I figured there was a reason for a 700 class motor in the stretch. I'll look in to the scorpion motors. Thanks!

The Align 750mx version does work well. But is nowhere near the quality of the brand Nightflyr suggested. Congrats on your new build! Give us some pics when you can?

If you looking for perfomance, quality and first class customer service SCORPION is the one. They have a wide range of power motors in your class.
Also KDE is the brand of power. They make exellent products.

What I do love about my Kde motor is the no lube thing. Oiling the lower bearing in the Scorp can truly be a pain to get at in some builds.

Thanks for the tips on the motor. I was debating on spending the extra $ for the scorpion but if the quality is that much better then I'll go for it. Pics will come soon, I still have another few days offshore before I get to go home. There are a mountain of parts waiting for me when I get there. Do you think I will be safe with the CC Edge 80 HV or just spend the extra for the 120 HV? I like to have a margin of safety built in to my projects if ever possible.

See y point , get the lube bottle with needle from scorp or get a syringe with needle your problem with lubing is gone.

Get the 120. It is worth every penny for the extra insurance when you start pushing the larger motors. I always buy mine used from the FS sections. And save tons of $$$. However on my own 600 I have been quite happy with my Turnigy (Hobbywing) HV 120. The thing is virtually bulletproof, and my Skookum controls the gov brilliantly.

depends, get a 120 and be safe in your range.. y'll see your log what it uses..
for that , my 1000e draws 94amp peak in 3d smack so a 160esc is well overkill.. non gov mode though...

Use the calc on castle web page. Fill out correctly and it will show your needs.

I had been leaning toward the 120 just for the extra amp rating. I have used the turnigy before in a 6S trex 480 project, the only thing I didnt like about them was the inability to set the gov RPM through a program like castle link. Basically I had a little miscalculation in the gearing/motor pole formula and it pretty much self-destructed upon spool up. Other than that, the YEP's are very good ESC's. I use the tarot zyx-s which unfortunatly doesnt have a gov. I know a lot of people shy away from them but I've had really good luck with the zyx-s on my 480 and 500. I see they have a zyx-s2 out now so I may give that one a try. As far as the main gear goes, is the KDE Mod 1 700 heavy duty 115T with the main gear case adaptor for the 600 the way to go?
