Default Success (for now!)

Finally, got a new card that works. Sandisk 16 gb class 4. It did not work until I used the SDFormatter software referenced above. Format is FAT32.

Default Blade EFC-721 720P HD Camera

After reading the posts, I ordered a Class 4 MicroSD card.
Out of the package, in the camera, problem solved. No more shutoff and lock up issues.

Same card I got! Mine, however, did shut off and I had to format it.

This is interesting. I used an SD card that came with my WL Toys v222. Formatted it and installed it into the camera. Pushed the button, lit up blue. Took and went around the neighborhood. Pressed the flap button down to stop recording. Picked up the 180QX and the blue light was off and nothing was on the SD card. blank!
Put in a formatted Sandisk 2gb card. The result is below.

I have 2 of these, they both shut off. How are you "formatting" them?

I extensively use only this:

Been having the same issues as everyone else with shutting off and all. Started with a old class 4 card and had choppy video so I thought a newer better card would solve that problem. I picked up a sandisk 32gb class 10 card, nothing but problems with it shutting off. So I then picked up a PNY 32gb class 4 card. It worked just fine but on the last flight the video was choppy as hell and it split the video up into separate files. On the 2nd battery the camera shut off and I lost the video...

The first video was when it was working fine other than the jello effect. The second video is with the same card and was split into separate files (this is the second file). Oh and this was with my 200QX.

I did not notice the "jello" effect as you say in the first video but I noticed a lot ups and downs which probably was caused by a strong wind. Was it quite windy? Second video problem probably is the mode you were flying, definitely not low or high stability. Agility is to fast to record for this cheapo camera. The camera records AVI and misses a lot of frames especially in agility/stagility. Finally, i would suggest max 16gb class 4. If you want quality videos in any mode get a Mobious camera. My 2 cents

Yes very strong winds and I was throwing it around a lot to see if it would get choppy. The second video was recorded in low stability. Yeah I'm heading out right now to get the 16gb class 4 to replace this 32gb class 4.

Yet another POS camera from Horizon. It is ridiculous that this thing should be so sensitive to the type of card used in it. Does anyone at HH quality assure these products before they are sold to the general public? Even the camera mount is a terrible joke of a design by having no quick release option for ease of use. Velcro is probably a better option for that..

I'll see if I can locate a class 4 card. I tried different class 10 and none of them work. The 2gb card that came with the first POS 180QX camera doesn't work either.

Comparing the boards of the two there is nothing the same about them. I don't know if you're just talking about the lens but calling them the same just isn't correct.

I did return the 32gb class 4 SD card for a Sandisk 16gb class 4. I'll find out tomorrow if it works without major lag like the second video. Something is still bothering me about those 2 videos though. Both videos are using the same card and in the first video I am ripping it around like crazy with no lagging. For most of the 2nd video I am taking it pretty easy and its lagging like crazy.

Not all SD are made the same. IMO sandisk is the best for my uses! They work great on both of my 721s.

Default Charge Levels

One thing I noticed I could get the 8GB class 10 cards to work off a fresh charge, if they sit for a day or 2, they seem to shut off. A frustrating product to say the least.

Well another SD card and more problems with the camera shutting off... Another Horizon Hobby failure. The 16gb class 4 Sandisk I picked up last night can be added to the growing list of SD cards I have tried. This pile of crap camera is going back, I'm done messing with it.

Before you send it back, did you reset the camera before inserting a new card? By Inserting a new and unused card the camera sees it as the previous card. Use a paper clip to reset the camera and then insert the new sd card. Format the sd in the computer as FAT32, if necessary, or use a special sd format utility Jake mentioned in this thread.

Yup I did all of that. Just got off the phone with Horizon and they are shipping a new one out Monday.

That's why I always buy ONLY from HH. Good luck with the new camera.

What kind of battery life should we be getting out of these?

Screw the camera issues my new favorite little quad just showed up. This thing is smaller than the protoX and MUCH more fun. It will flip on a dime.
