Default DX9 problems, not happy.

I've had my DX9 for a few months now, I haven't used it as much in the off season. I'm already having some major issues with it. The main issue is the scroll bar, it doesn't scroll left without fighting it. You have to do one really slow click at a time.

The second issue that just started today at the field is a horizontal line going across the bottom of the screen. My wings program is going to start this Saturday and I can't be missing the whole season waiting on HH. With the amount of money I had to pay for this thing I'm not impressed.

You'd think Horizon Hobby has a field of lemon trees. I had a sat fail recently, my MCPX had a stuck servo out of the box, and now this. A lot of lemons coming outa their operation.

Do you guys think I can keep flying it for this season before I send it in, or should you tell them asap?

Thanks.

I would contact Horizon immediately and arrange to send it in.

They have superb service and, I think, will take care of you very rapidly.

Agreed, my dx8 was out of my hands a grand total of 9 days when I sent it in back in December. Get it fixed and it'll be back before you know it. Sim while it's gone

Thanks, you guys are near their repair facility. I'm in Canada, everything always gets held up in customs both ways. Most other guys from this side of the border tell me it's about 3 weeks to a month.

Looks like I'll be using the dx6i. A fraction of the price but it's been reliable for almost 2 years now.

Do you keep the SD card installed? Try removing it if so. Sometimes this wonky behavior is related to a bad card.

+1

Try removing/replacing the sd card. I've seen slow screens, blank screens, and all kinds of other problems from faulty cheap SD card that is included. Most times when people removed or replaced the card with a good one the problems went away.

I'll give it a try, I already replaced the card because the thing wouldn't boot after an update. I'll try take it out, thanks.

A class 10 card isnt really necessary and it may choke on some of the superfast cards. I use Class 6 SDHC micros in an adapter and havent had a bit of trouble with any of them.
The trouble with SD cards is that the ratings vs actual performance are alot like cheap LiPos. Theres also a chance that many of them(even some name brands) are cloned or counterfeited.
Our Txs seem to demand that the cards perform completely to spec. Many of the cards are not to spec. They may basically work in other devices or a PC but not in a Spektrum Tx.
I used the stock cards at first and they were fine for awhile but I had 2 fail after a year or so. I then went to 2gb Sandisk Class 2 cards. I bought a 4 pack and 2 worked and 2 didnt. After another year they also quit on me.
I had a couple of older Class6 SDHC micros laying around so I popped them in adapters and havent had another card issue since. I think they are Toshiba.
Over the years Ive had quite a few of them go bad in cameras. They do wear out if they are used alot. In a full size SD application I tend to think that a micro in an adapter takes alot of wear and tear off of the card itself.
I just round filed the adapter Ive been using as my primary for a couple years now. I always put a spot of CA on the little write protect slider to keep it from getting bumped to Lock. Ive had 2 adapters so far that started to tell me that the card was write protected when the slider is glued in the Unlock position. Toss em out and get another. They are consumable and disposable as far as Im concerned. They do wear out and many are marginally to spec to begin with. They are relatively cheap.
You might have to get 4 to find 2 that work reliably in our Txs. Keep a spare handy and always backup your data if you dont want to lose it.
Also the formatting app in a PC is marginal at best.If you want to correctly format use this app https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/ and Read the Manual !!!
They also have a protected area that formatting doesnt touch. If theres a problem with this part it may not work correctly.
If you do a little searching you will find that theres more to these little buggers than you might think.

Thanks for all the tips. My tx is in the mail on it's way to horizon service I included the shitty sd card it came with, hopefully they replace it. The tx crashed once I put that card back in and won't boot even without it.
