Charged up the GoPro and headed out today for flip session Take II. It was WINDY, so the video is NOISY. And I trimmed it down to omit all the portions where you couldn't even see it (I'm going to do this again with a camera person and a decent camera with a zoom).

Just sprinkling. My very last flight of the night I did have to land early because it really started coming down. Quite a memorable evening

This is a much better video. It was less windy today, so I was more comfortable getting lower.

EDIT: It was still editing when I posted, so it may need a few more minutes. Also, is this in 360? I uploaded it in full HD. If YouTube is reducing the quality, I can't figure out why!

KevinPJF Progress videos are always welcomed in my book! Love to watch them. What's the wind speed like there? Sounds like a lot, nowhere near the amount of avg wind around here (8-10mph). I also wish I had your scenery around here.

I'm practicing flips in the Sim. Getting better but not ready to try in RL! Quick question, what Throttle% are you running here? I run %77 in idle up and just curious what others are running since the manual gives a max of %75 in IU.

Man I wish I could fly circuits! haha I'll get there.

Wind speed here on the day I shot that was sustained around 22, with gusts to 30, according to wunderground. I was surprised to see that. I flew both the 450 and the 360 and they both held extremely well. Tomorrow, it's supposed to be nice and calm until about lunch, so I'm going to go out and push the envelope a little.

I learned my circuits and figure 8's on my nano cpx's and mcpx BL before I got a sim. If you can fly a clean circuit on a nano cpx and mcpx BL translating that to a larger heli is easy. It really helped me a ton. But my sim is helping me a lot now also.

Yeah! Like I said, I was surprised to see it. I really enjoy southern Arizona, but the wind gets..... old. Even before I started flying helis. haha

I'm starting to put together more consistent turns on the sim. Just getting that ail/elevator/rudder ratio right to pull it off has proven a bit difficult. I'm working it, though, for sure.

75% throttle curve only means 75% of whatever your Tx sees as physical endpoints. It's relative when it comes to actual head speed. A geneal guide...but not entirely accurate.
If you bump it up to say 85% you'll see your pitch changes happen a bit quicker and your right stick movements will also seem a bit snappier.
Depending on your phone's O.S. I would suggest getting a phone app heli head speed calculator.
I use Heli-Headspeed app for android.
Select the right range in rpms and hit start then set your phone down by the heli. Spool up and then fly and sit the heli right next to the phone. You want no pitch. Leave it there for a few seconds then pull away and land.
Walk over to your phone and hit stop. You should see a period in time where the rpm was "stable" or in a flat line. This is your general head speed.
This method is easier with two people. You get a shorter data collection time and the head speed is a bit easier to read in the graph. This way you start and hover the heli a bit out..have someone run our and hit start and put phone down. Proceed as before..fly away and have other person grab phone and hit stop.

The white vertical line is moveable so you can scroll through the entire data a see your speed. Its obvious that there was zero pitch where the flat lines are. This was on my 450.

Wow, I didn't realize an ungoverned head fluctuates in RPMs that much and that wide. I plan on getting a governed ESC when I upgrade my motor, but for now running at 77%(Although like you said, is just an endpoint adjustment) it feels ok and doesn't bog a whole lot for what I'm doing now. I will have to find that app and check it out next time I go to the field.
