350 QX Series Flight Modes Explained

Since there have been several recent questions about how the different flight modes work, I have dusted off the description I posted some time ago and updated it for firmware version 3 / QX3.

This document describes the behavior of each flight mode in more detail than the manual. It also includes a brief description of Stagility Mode and a reference for how the Gear channel is programmed for each flight mode in each version of firmware.

How about with GPS disable?

GPS disabled operates almost exactly like Stability mode, except you don't get column lock and no return to home (obviously).

So the gyros are still in play -- when you let go of the cyclic stick it will self-level?

Yeah mate with gps off the quad wont know where it is or started from etc so no safe zone or column or RTH self level still works unless in red mode

Keep up the good work! This explanation is exactly what should have been included from HH when they released the new firmware. It exposes the smoke and mirrors inside the flight controller, and now I know why my 350 behaves the way it does in the different modes. I do like "Stability" for FPV, but I do use AP for my camera work. I also have "Stagility" programmed. This document was very helpful when I programmed my mix for "Stagility"!

Just joined the forum yesterday after receiving my 350QX3 and like some felt baffled by the instructions now everything makes total sense & my quad is flying big thank to OP

Stagility - blade 350qx 3 - dx6i (3 min 53 sec)

The gear channel (CH5) values for flight modes are:

Smart: 100
AP: 0
RTH: -100
Stability: 115
Agility: 150

To toggle manually between flight mode pack A

Smart mode (green, CH5: 100)
AP mode (purple, CH5: 0)
Return to home (red flashing, CH5: -100)

or B

Agility mode (red, CH5: 150)
Stabilty mode (blue,, CH5: 115)
Return home (red, CH5: -100)

hold DOWN ELEVATOR stick
and toggle flight mode switch 4 times

------------------------------------------------------

Toggle between GPS on or off
push AILERON stick to the RIGHT

With GPS off flight mode pack A stays white
(stability mode without GPS but altitude hold)

and flight mode pack B

Agility mode (white red)
Stabilty mode (white blue)
Return home (white - like pack A)
