Woke up to work on it today and what do you know, the OrangeRx goes into bind mode every time I connect the battery.

Works and responds correctly when the FC USB is connected but when I disconnect it and connect a battery only (no USB board connection) the RX goes into bind mode.

Any thoughts?

Mine did that as well when i still used it. The biggest reason why i went with the Taranis. Do you have a different unit you can try ? I had a few, that i just kept on swopping till i ran out of them.

No I don't have any more.

I can't seem to figure out how to get power to the receiver without an rx pack. The ppm out from the board doesn't seem to be supplying it.

Default Naze

The board does have 5v pad/pin as well as a 3v (satellite voltage)
...there is something missing if you followed the video...?
Are your ESC's all Opto? BEC?

All opto esc's I think (massiveRC 18a). None of them have bec's. Separate ubec on the board.

I think that's the problem.

When I attach the BEC to the Naze, it powers the board but then the receiver gets no power for some reason. I have only been able to fly it with a receiver pack attached to the 615x.

When i try it the other way by going BEC to Rx, I get the bind light after every power cycle. I was under the impression that the ppm output to the receiver was supposed to supply power to it.

Is this not the case?

Sorry for the late reply, spent the evening at the LHS getting their opinion.

Run the video again and see if there is something missed...wires into the BIND/BATT on the 615X?
Mine has the ESC's with BEC on board but I'm running PWM right now because I do not have a DSMX RX on that 250

It's plugged in right on the rx.

I saw on a video by painless360 that this board should power the rx via ppm out but there needs to be 4 esc cables /w all 3 wires plugged into the motor pins. This would give the board its power and then on to the rx.

I dunno. I'm stil suspect of the rx in pins on that naze since I couldn't get any voltage on the DMM.

Gonna try another board.

Default Power

...so, You have the BEC powering the Naze FC with a ground wire, correct?
Can you tried to run a +5v and gnd to the RX at the same time?
I have never run Opto's so it throws me off!

Update:

PPM output on this unit is worthless. Read around online and confirmed that the resolution of the signal is too low. Probably should have known that when I couldn't get 1500 in clean flight on any of the receiver channels.

Switched back to PWM and got a new board. The other one definitely was out of whack with the voltage not getting to the RX.

Thanks for all the help guys!

Really sorry that it turned out that way. At the end i also moved away from Spectrum, for the same reason that i was never comfortable with the signal strenghs. Dont get me wrong, i love Spectrum for heli's, never had any problems with over 5 years of use. Sadly they lack in the fpv arena, hope they can catch up.

Default Trying to connect my Orange 615x to my Naze 32

Hoping someone can get my receiver working.

I have a ZMR250 that I bought from someone with a Naze 32 board that was working with a taranis receiver.

He disconnected his receiver and Im trying to get it to work with a Orange 615X receiver that I have for my Spektrum 6Si

Coming off the Naze Board, there are the following wires / plugs:

- Green (that I plugged into Throttle)
- Red/White/Black (that I plugged into ALE with the white on top)
- Brown (that I plugged into ELEV)
- Yellow (that I plugged into RUDD)
- Black (that I plugged into Gear)
- Orange (that I plugged into Aux)

When plug the battery in, I dont get any power to the receiver

I think this has something to do with the RED/WHITE/Black cable.

Ideally, I think I should be connecting this via CPPM, right anyway. If I do this, I need a simple servo cable with 3 separate cables r right? Can someone explain to me clearly where the servo cable goes in on the Orange 165X an where it goes in the Naze 32?

Default Fixed..

Turned out to be a few things:

1) I decided to switch to CPPM - pulled out the other cables and just connected the three.. No initial luck ...

2) Made sure that the receiver was bound to the transmitter - I think I needed to do that first.

3) Then I learned that I needed to go into Cleanflight and switch it to PPM. Doing that resulted in power going to the receiver. However, the receiver was flashing red fast and I couldn't engage the aircraft.

4) In the end, I learned that I had the cable wrong in the receiver side. I had put it across the top three pins where it needed to be Vertically put in.

Once I did that, magic. All's good..

Little more tinkering in Cleanflight and she flew...

Thanks.
