Lightbulb Canopy quick release

Today I mounted the RC Booya 450Pro canopy quick release.

Great! Not perfect but still better than stock rubber.

(The perfect solution is the QuickUK magnetic ones that I have on the T550. And, it should be right length also)

Some notes.

- The length is like 3mm too short. I used old 450 ball links as spacers (cut the exceeding part). Otherwise the canopy will touch the main gear.

- The thread in these are too big for original rod. I put some heat shrink tube on and then screwed them on, worked well. But I think I will order some bigger rod and try. Maybe the ones from 450 Pro will work, but they should be quite long also. Anyone tried?

- You have to ream the canopy holes to 11/32" (8,7mm), a reamer is handy then.

Anyone tried some other solution? Couldn't find so many that seemed to fit in length.

Have tried a little more now. It's a really tight fit with these even though I have spacers. The main gear have actually started to grind on my canopy on one side so.... they should have been like 5mm longer

I was looking at the trex 500 quick release. They are about 4-5mm longer than the 450 pro version. So I am going to try them to see if they fit better.

Default Canopy quick release

IMO. Pain in the butt to use. You have to glue them to the canopy.

I'm using the 500 size RC Booyas on two of my X3's, they fit nicely and give plenty of clearance as they push the canopy out a few mm each side.

I don't have a reamer so just used a drill bit to carefully widen them.

That is sad! I use these on all my canopies and they work quite well.

So that means the back doesn't close completely? That would figure since that is what happens on the X5 and X7 when using RC Booya mounts. I suppose I really don't care about that as much as having a secure mount for the canopy. But I honestly figured RC Booya would have came out with an exact fit by now. It's not like on the X5 and X7 where they cannot make the posts any shorter. So they should be able to make an exact fit.

Yup, I have a good 10mm gap at the back. To be honest I thought that was how the X3 was supposed to look as my first one came with the RC Booya clips already installed. :-D

I actually like the gap, gives me a little more room for cable clearance, and let's me see the status light on my Vortex.
