Never thought I'd see the day I was flying 700 class E helis and Never ever ever thought I'd say that I just don't see the appeal of nitro any longer.... Other than flight time, I see no advantage... modern charging will keep you in the air for arguably less money while making way more and smoother power... All that said, looks to be a good clean light conversion!!

I do miss the nitro smell but not the mess!!!

Yeah what would it take new frames and some extra small hardware bits? I know electric is cleaner and easier but something about once your setup and flying at the field just fueling and flying over and over and the noise and smell, something about burning fuel and the great smoke trails a 700 nitro leaves. Its great.

Right now, I believe it his personal heli, not a prototype. They wouldn't be showing a top-secret heli at a event like Vegas. It would be cool, if there was a large enough market for it. Remember why they didn't produce the 3-blade head? Not enough people were into it to produce it.

Anyone happen to know who the 700X nitro conversion belongs to? Was it a team pilot?

It belonged to James Haley (designer of the 700x) who had a few made for his own personal use.

Very odd - the pilot definitely wasn't James. Not too sure who it was, but I saw the 700X nitro in the Dayton Ohio area at a full size airplane fly in last July. Did one of these 'get misplaced' at some point and end up in someone else's hands?

There were several made, and James, Heli Team Manager Steve Petrotto, and James' best friend (a Team Pilot in Dayton) all have them. None were sold.
