I received a phone call from FedEx today. I have a delivery that needs a signature coming Saturday.

The AH-64 is the only thing I can remember that I have ordered.

Looking forward to getting this little guy.

That would be cool if it's this heli. Maybe you can get a flight video up since Horizon apparently doesn't feel the need to do any.

It wasn't the AH-64. But! It was the Front Strut I need to fix my car!

They said the estimated delivery date was this Tuesday that's why I did't think it would be the strut.

Oh well, the wait continues...

Received mine today - having some issues trying to cram the lipo in - there is no way so far that I have managed to seat the canopy with the stock lipo in. The cables from the motor and the power lead force the canopy up. The lead and balance plug on the lipo have to be forced in.

That battery sits under the motor and pushes down, as said needs a good force in and easily damages the lipo.

Any ideas on a smaller size lipo that may fit better?

I will try and move the bind/motor plugs on the left side and see what I can do.

Ugh, really? It's like they don't even test fly these things in the final configuration that the customers will get. Hmmm... Maybe that's why they're already shipping and we STILL haven't seen a video from Blade.

What about a BL lipo? I think Hobbyking has similar sized ones with a red JST discharge plug on sale. Are they too thick?

Shame about the fitment - if the lipos swell a bit, it could get worse.

Do you have pictures?

Cheers,

Right a squeeze but all in.

Had to prize the bind plug out and push the motor wires under the fuselage side. The bind plug gets in the way but battery fits better. The jst lead on the battery far to long for what it needs to be (next mod to shorten) but just tucks enough in front.

The motor leads are connected with a servo size plug which takes up a lot of the limited space, need to look at options for reducing the size of it.

Battery out showing the limited room.

Had a quick test and the battery gets very hot - should be fun if swells up!

The battery is a tight fit. It's extremely difficult to fit a battery into a scale Apache model, while remaining true to the actual scale dimensions which we have done our best to do.

Brian,

A good job, the detailing on the heli for its size is stunning, plus it does has good options for adding finer detail. I see where are coming from with the battery fit.

Has this battery been designed for the Apache or a range of models? I ask as the long power lead could be a shorter saving on pushing it in at front and the bind plug on the other side to the motor leads - there is space under the canopy frame (motor wires and connection hidden there in my photo). You can see on my lipo the marks on it from trying to fit (hopefully won't split it).

I really look forward to some more scale kit from blade.

I do like this heli - so much so I have another on the way.

I'm glad you like it. This is by far the most completely detailed scale model that Blade has ever done, and has been a long time in the making. If people think of it as a scale model helicopter, and not a fly it 20x per day beating on it, and trying 3d maneuvers they will be much happier.

I've been flying the Apache for nearly a year now (yes development takes that long), and haven't damaged a battery yet.

Unfortunately, I can't comment on our future product plan, so yes, the battery was designed for the Apache.

Looks like there could easily be some issues with the wires or connector rubbing on the motor can. Same for the bind connector.

I just got my shipping confirmation and I am super excited. This is my very first scale helicopter and I cant wait. To he honest, I am still pretty chapped that Blade killed off the 500x 222 but hopefully this will make up for it.
