Lightbulb a rednecks guide to a phone/ tablet sim that works and has a real TX feel.

So I have been playing with an app for my android called Indoor Heli Sim. As far as the app goes I think it is pretty good for what it is, that being said the problem lies in the control of heli with the on screen controls.

Here is what I have come up with as a solution to the problem. It is a cheap $30 Asus blue tooth controller and a old Nine Eagles FP heli transmitter that I hacked into one unit.

Originally I got the game controller to see if it would work better than the onscreen controls, which it did but still left a lot to be desired. The biggest problem with it for me was quality of the gimbals. They drifted horribly making it almost unusable.

First I was going to see if I could use a real transmitter, I was thinking I would use an old spectrum dx5e that I had laying around, but the potentiometers wouldn't have worked with the game controller and I didn't feel like waiting and finding ones that would. I discovered the Nine Eagles transmitters had the same gimbals as the Asus game controller only 1 was not center sprung on the throttle and they were much better quality.

The end result is a blue tooth controller that resembles the feel of a real TX. The size came out good and it works great. Now I have a sim that I can travel with and works great! The best part is it cost me $30 and it works.

Eventually I will be revisiting the idea of using a real TX, but for right now this works good until then. Everything on the game controller still works albeit the ergonomics could be better as far as using it as a game controler.
