Default 8th Heli Anniversary (2016-05-27)

Eight years ago today, I was having lunch out with my wife, when I told her that I enjoy flying my RC airplanes, but I always dreamed of flying RC helicopters. Ever since I saw one flying at my university when I was an undergraduate.

Immediately following lunch, she drove me to the LHS and bought me my first heli, a Blade CX2. I'm SURE that she had no idea (nor did I) what a life changing event that would be, filled with good friends, long days at the field, occasional camp outs at big events and ALL of you, my HF friends.

I can still remember the joys of my first "real" hover, flip, FFF, stall turn, loop, roll, inverted hover... The memories of many of the crashes have faded, but some remain.

It is eight years later. I still have my CX2 along with other helis, quads and planes.... and I still have my wife.... and she still supports my hobbies.

Once a year, on this date, I pull the old CX2 off the shelf and fly her, just to remind me of what a great wife I have. She even took this picture for me.

8 years of fun ALL because of my beautiful wife.

Thanks Honey!

Congrats on many years in the hobby!

I myself will be coming up on 3 years in the hobby, with a little 6 month break stuffed in there.

Congrats on the eighth heli anniversary Creaky Cactus, and many more to come I am sure. About three years ago I purchased a Syma SO33G and with being busy at work with little time to fly I flew it a couple times and put it back in the box and in the closet.

On May 8, 2015 (just over a year ago) I went and purchased a 200 SRX FP heli, and a flight sim and have been loving it ever since, making time for the hobby weather permitting and as you can see I have acquired a few machines since then, the 550X with Wookong H which I am thoroughly enjoying as often as I can get it up in the air.

Again congrats, and keep those blades rotating

Congratulations and what a cool idea flying the CX2 every year to remind you how it all began. I started not very long ago with an mCX2 and think I'll keep that too. I still fly it occasionally around the house, I find it quite relaxing.

Congratulations, I have a similar experience to you, although I think maybe a year longer. I started with the same heli, the CX2, but I gave it away to someone years ago. My wife also said a similar thing, if you want it then get it, and she does the same today and we have been married 17 years now.

Congratulations! My wife is also supportive of my hobby. I wouldn't enjoy it as much if she didn't.

Eight years is a long time, I think. I am a little over 2 myself. I hope to still be in this hobby well past the 8 year mark.

Here's to many more years of enjoyment!

Default 8th Heli Anniversary (2016-05-27)

Mine is also the reason why I fly Helis now because always told her Helis are hard and my grandpa who got me into planes when I was little always said "Helis are too expensive and complicated"

So one day while buying monokote to recover my kyosho she said let's buy a copter and I walked out with a ncpx.

Now 2 years and a 700N later I try to fly every weekend and she wishes she never made me buy that "stupid copter" 😂😂😂🙈

Congratulations!

About 1 1/2 years for me.
Blade mCX V1 was my first real heli.

My wife says flying heli's is the best anti-depressant medicine for me ever.

Similar story here, but my dad got me interested with a mall copter. Then my wife has supported me me hugely in my RC exploits for the past 2 and 1/2 years. And if she wasn't supportive, I'd not still be flying.
