Default [ Version 2.2 released! ]

Version 2.2.0 was released!

It brings many new features and improvements:
  • Brand new OpenTX (FrSky) integration:
    • Full integration with OpenTX-based transmitters, similar to JETI Duplex integration.
    • Computer is not needed at all!
    • Configuration anywhere and anytime directly in your radio.
    • Works with a different Receiver protocols - PWM, PPM, S-BUS.
    • Support for FrSky Taranis and Horus transmitters.
    • NOTE: OpenTX 2.2 required - will be available in the following days (Not released yet).
    • Big thanks for RCStudio that allowed to make this happen.
    • For more info please check the OpenTX integration guide.
  • JETI Duplex Integration:
    • Support for full configuration of the Channel Mapping.
    • Support for special functions configuration.
    • Support for programming Failsafe.
    • Telemetry Vibes value is calculated so that output is comparable to the Vibration Analysis.
  • Governor improvements:
    • Support for variable Autorotation Bailout settings in the Advanced/Expert window.
    • Optimization of the spoolup procedure when RPM signal is not clean.
    • "RPM Sensor data are lost" event is not logged during spoolup.
    • "Governor was activated" event logged also during Autorotation Bailout and Bank Switching.
    • Fixed kick for ESCs with very fast response on Autorotation Bailout activation.
    • Throttle output is smoothed when TC is under 50% to prevent violent spoolup.
    • Autorotation Bailout was reworked so it can achieve Requested RPM accurately.
  • Optimalizations for Spirit and Spirit (black edition) units:
    • Code was optimized to gain 7% performance boost.
    • Improved precision of the Rescue and Stabilisation modes.
    • Flight characteristics and precision closer to the Spirit Pro.
    • NOTE: It could be needed to reduce Gyro Gain by a few percent (5-10%).
  • Software enhancements:
    • Connection stability with the Wifi-Link module was improved.
    • Default profile in the Setup Wizard was updated.
    • Factory Settings values were updated (Rudder Delay is 8 by default).
    • Windows version has optimized performance and reduced size by 30%.

You do not have to change any settings after the update from previous version.
Only small decrease of the Gyro Gain for smaller Spirit units might be needed.

Update for the Spirit unit, Wifi-Link and Jeti Integration is available in our Download section.

Thank you for all your help and support!

Grey is the Pro. "Classic" are red or black. No idea why they mentioned "black" though...

Red face

The pro is gray

The original was a dark gray color, then red, and then black.

The original one was grey. I still have one. Then they changed to red and there is a black one. They are still all the same. And yes I know that the pro is also grey but that is not what I was saying.

I said the original grey and the red one are the same as the black. I did not mention the pro. I have all the colors BTW. My first was the original which was grey, got a 2nd one but by that time they were red. Then added a 3rd when the black came out. I also have 2 pros.

Wow, this looks really good! Will I lose all my setting and have to setup my heli from scratch again?

So... if you upgrade from 2.1.0, that's it.

Perfect!
We are very glad for nice comments.

Please send your wishes in our Spirit System forum or directly to my email.

We are preparing profiles for Taranis and Horus radios, so that the setup is matter of a few seconds with Spirit. Thank you FrSky and OpenTX developers for doing great job!

By the way we have major discounts in our eshop right now!
We were able to reduce the price even by 21% due to high sales in the previous months for the Spirit units.
Since we wish to provide the best service and products, we want to provide also more attractive prices!

That sounds good as I need a few more.

On the note of 2.2. I updated yesterday on my G380 which had an original unit. Update was super simple as usual and maybe it's just plecbo but I thought it flew much smoother. My governor also seemed much better for some reason as well. Didn't change any settings (not even tail gain) and it was the best my heli has ever flown.

I came home after flying and updated my other 4 units as well but haven't had time to fly those yet though.

Thank you very much for the report!

We are very glad that it is working well. Your feelings are likely to be true.
Optimizations that we have made for smaller Spirit units are affecting everything, since it can work even faster now.

I hope you will enjoy it.

Firstly, I want to say that it's great that you continuously put effort to improve the spirit units.
Is there a noticable change in spirit pro flight charachteristics?

I can confirm that my initial thoughts and what ZeXx86 confirmed are true. I flew my other helis with the standard units and all flew better. They are more stable and more precise, and yes the governor works better as well. On the same settings, it definitely holds better.

On my 2 spirit pro units, they fly great as well but I can't say I notice the same difference on them as the smaller unit, but they are also on larger sized helis that are super stable already.

Next up will be to tune the bailout for autorotation practice!
