You need a 3.5mm male to male cable. Most sims include one.

Just to be clear, you need a USB simulator cable, right? Some of them come with a 3.5mm that plugs into the USB dongle, and some of them are hard wired to the dongle with a 3.5mm only on one end for the Tx. But you are not plugging a cable into any 3.5mm port on your PC.

The problem I had was having Heli-X fail to recognize one of the channels using a cable that worked fine with my DX9. I know some guys have used other USB cables fine between the XK transmitter and Heli-X, so I think the OP is interested in which specific brand/model of cable folks have had success with.

You can buy a generic USB sim dongle with cables and it will work with Heli-X fine. I can't post a link as they are often used to steal software. Just search Amazon, HobbyKing, or whomever for USB simulator dongle. They are usually under $10.
