Castle or Microbeast governor
What do you guys think is the better governor,
use the Castle edge 160HV one or the one in the Microbeast ? (I purchased the extra software for the bailout already) |

Honestly never really heard anything special about either one of them. The old argument is that the flybarless unit has an inherent advantage of being able to be proactive in throttle compensation rather than reactive like an esc for when rpm drops. Whether this means the overall performance of the beastx governer is greater than the castle is anybody's guess.

This was perhaps not the best place for your post, hence the lack of replies. ESC based governors are arguably much easier to set up. They probably work well enough for most folks. If you have a Nitro or gasser then having the Gov in the FBL is nice (as long as it works) because you don't need a separate standalone Gov.
If you really wanted to test which one is better, you would have to try both and log the RPM over a flight and then do statistics to see which one stayed closer to the set point, on average, over a flight.

The Castle Creations governor is quite good. I would rely on the flybarless system.
The ESC measures "phases" directly from the motor. The flybarless system is not directly connected to the motor and is in my opinion as an external governor never as good as the ESC which is directly attached to the motor. |
