Looking at the map, there is at least one HFer from SA, but looks like he is Johannesburg or Pretoria. There may be some who are not on the map though, I think I've seen a couple of others in the last year.

As far as a good step up from your co-ax, I can highly recommend the XK k110. It's collective pitch, so can do anything a bigger heli can do, but has nice 6-axis stability for starting out. The RTF version is just over $100 with a transmitter and it's small enough that it's nearly indestructible. A great way to see if you enjoy flying collective pitch enough to make a more serious investment in the hobby. I still fly mine now and then. You probably won't find it in a local shop, but Banggood ships them pretty quickly from China and is also a reliable source of spare parts. (Get a bunch of extra main gears. They are only about $1 a piece and you will need to replace it once every 25-50 crashes.)
