Default R1 vs R2

Little background...

I've had 4 failures in the last year across three helis and one bad servo out of the box with my BKs. Three have been from servo wires breaking off from within the servo, all during flight. I'm not always the gentlest when working on my helis, so some of it could be because of that, but come on... having it happen three times and during flight and not on the bench! I had a tail servo that went completely dead during flight and one bad servo out of the box that would ever so slightly undulate when under load, and only under load (took a bit to troubleshoot that, but BK did take care of it, once we figured it out).

Fortunately, the failures only caused two mild crashes (two sets of main/tail blades, tail fin, boom and main/feathering shafts in all). I count myself lucky there!

So I'm looking for a reliable performance servo that's also pretty budget friendly. The R2s seem to fit that bill.

Anyway now to my question. What is the difference between the R1 and R2s? Is it just the bottom case? Are the servo gears or any of the internals different?

This is what I found on them on the similarities but they don't talk differences: "The R2 and R2T servos have the same internal brushless technology and firmware from the R1/R1T line. The R2 also has the quick release connector that allows easy wiring and neatness for a clean build."

they both the same internally, R2 is plastic casing and R1 are metal. I have the R2 on my logo and Loving them, I have the R1 on my Sab nitro and Loving them as well.

I have had RJX, Futaba, BK servos which all went to the graveyard. BK servos was the only one giving me a replacement. I now have a set of R2 servos with the main reason the wiring. It's so clean I like that.

I had the exact same issue as you but more failures. I switched all my machines to R2s and have had zero failures.... same machines, only changed servos
