Default Where to buy 3S motor

I have a ton of 3S packs and I have the Gaui X3 kit, I got the bug I want to build it, but where is the best place to get a 3200kv motor compatible with the X3?

Would this motor work?

http://innov8tivedesigns.com/parts/b...-motor-kv-3200

Thanks in advance for any and all help.

Best,

Jason

That's really a motor for a 300 size heli. I don't think it will have enough power for the X3. You want at least a 2221, but most people run a 2520 or equivalent. Scorpion has both sizes in the 3000-3500kv range.

On 3s, I wouldn't run anything under 60A.

Unless you already have 3s packs, I would just go for 6s. Temps will be lower and you'll get longer flights. 360mm is really too much for 3s, especially on such a heavy machine.

Very true,

I managed to shutdown a HW50A V3 with a BL450MX on 3S. Lost orientation and gave it two good jabs of collective and cyclic it flip it over and down she went...

Thanks for the advice guys, I accidentally ordered a 45A, sent it back to upgrade to 60A. If I don't like the way it flys will upgrade to 6S motor in future.

I flew a 3s for a while, stable, but flew like a pig. Ended up tearing it down for spares after about 50 flights. I have several other 3s hekis anyway (Forza, 450x, 360cfx)

Default X3 3s

I fly my X3 for over 3 years on 3s, align 360 blades, Scorpion 2221-8, 12 pinion, Yep 60 amp in beginning and from last year HW-50 V3 platinum for better governor behaviour.
Throttle curves Idle 1 65%, Idle 2 75%, Idle 3 75%, flying time set to 5 min and batteries zippy 3S 2200 mah 40C, in the end of flight are 3,75V to 3,80.
Of course I agree that 6S is much more aggressive and accurate but I have enough 3s batteries so 3S was convenient for pocket balance.

I have a bunch of 3s packs so I built a budget 3S X3 for park flying: Savox BSM-2950 motor, Turnigy TGY-306G servos, YEP 60A ESC, Lemon RX, Align 325mm CF blades, CF tail blades (don't remember whose), a DS525 Tail servo (had a spare), and a used Brain FBL. I converted it to belt drive.

It's a blast to fly. The only thing I've noticed is my 20C packs don't fly nearly as well as my 30C packs. So my Christmas list will have a bunch of 40/45C packs.

I know there are those who will argue, and they may be right, but as far as I'm concerned head speed is head speed. I don't really notice a heat difference between my 6S and 3S components after a flight. They are all warm but not hot.
