Default 480xx component questions

So I've got the new heli bug (again) and I'm really interested in the Logo 480. With Labor Day sales going on now I'd like to pick up some of the components I'll need but I have some questions.

1. Will a full-size brain/ikon fit or does it need to be a mini?
2. Is an 80a esc enough or should I go with a 100?
3. What battery capacity are most people using?

Thanks

YGE 90 has plenty for mine.

What about the synergy 516? Might be worth the wait..

There is more than enough room for a full sized ikon/brain. 80amp might be pushing it if you fly hard, otherwise should be ok. Personally I use 3300's in mine since that is what I use in my 600's but many others use 3700's or so.

Thanks guys

The synergy 516 is tempting (I've never owned a synergy) but I've always really wanted to try the 480 so I'm going to stick with that.

Sounds like I'll be ok with 80a, which is good because I just noticed hobbywing doesn't have a 100a v4 anyway.

I doubt you would be disappointed with the 480. Be sure to try the vtx blades.

For me the 3300's were excellent stock size, I use those and 3700 since I stretched it.

I bought the full combo and the tail held, but it had a slight wag, changed the servo from savox to futaba and it solved it. Many people have had mixed results with the tail servo

I'll be going with BK, MKS or KST servos, depending what I can find good deals on.

eek. I haven't bought/built a new heli since winter. I was going to sell my 550sx to fund this but I got excited and have decided to just order everything now. I'll sell the 550 later and use it to help pay off the paypal credit bills.

Just ordered the kit w/motor and a set of vtx 477 blades. I guess I can start a build thread now.

Bk Servos will work but you have to do some shimming or they will touch main shaft. Mks and kst fit fine I am running Tribubus 120 with Neo its awesome you can set the Tribunus to cut power to a predermined amount so you fly to your battery capacity as opposed to a timer so nice you just tune it to lower power when you have 20% or whatever amount you set left on your battery. Oh the other good thing on that heli is the Spedix tail keeps the belt in the pulley. Crashed mine when belt jumped out of pulley with the Spedix tail that will never happen good held. With the VTX 477 flying it is like cheating too good

Wow cool, I did not know that about the scorpion escs. I didn't research other escs. I went with hobbywing just because that's what I have on everything else. Oh well. I'll look into that for my next heli.

1. 480 is a big bird, of course a standard sized Brain will fit :thumbup

2. I think the 80 amp is fine. The tendency now is to put huge speed controllers into helis needlessly (80a and 100a in 380s). 480 size machines even fly well on 60a speed controllers.

3. 3300-3700 seems to be the ballpark I've been seeing

Why post this in the Mikado section? Especially when the OP said nothing about another brand. Let's keep this forum clear of this type of thing.

I just put a Scorpion Tribunus on my 480. It makes a cleaner install than the YGE 90 and Mikado U/I sensor.

And so much easier to setup. Plus I got a good deal on it.

Perfect example of what I was saying before. But obviously it was chosen for reasons besides its current capacity
